Better picture[edit]

There is a better picture here. It is anonymous, so it probably is in the public domain. I think we should use that picture instead of the Chamberlain one. Carcharoth 20:39, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Better? This is obviously some obscure usage of the word 'better' that I have not come across before. Heston Aerodrome like many others of a similar size is long gone but is today remembered primarily for one day in 1938 illustrated by that image. Jooler 20:49, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If it was a free pic, I'd agree. As it's not, I disagree. As a non-free pic, it should only be used in the articles where it really is needed. In my opinion, that is Neville Chamberlain, Munich Agreement and Appeasement of Hitler. The pic here does not do any more than the words "Chamberlain made a famous speech at Heston Aerodrome" would do. The real impact of the image is at the other pages. If we had a non-free image of Heston Aerodrome itself, I'd argue for the aerodrome picture to be included here because, as you say, it no longer exists (though the article does suggest there are some ruins - maybe I'll try and get a pic of those). To explain myself still further, I would accept the Chamberlain pic if it was a wider angle, showing parts of the aerodrome itself. Remember, this is an article about the aerodrome, not Chamberlain, or one day in the aerodrome's history. Carcharoth 21:00, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Today[edit]

In this section it says: "designed to resemble an arrow pointing to true magnetic North." North is defined as either True North (the direction to the physical North Pole) or Magnetic North (the direction to the magnetic North Pole) the difference between the directions for a particular place is Magnetic Variation. Quite right. I've amended so it just says "north". (I suspect that it would have been True north, or else they would have to keep moving the buildings as Magnetic north shifted!) Emeraude (talk) 16:56, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
