Rewrite[edit]

Here is why I add the rewrite label. This article should need an introduction stating that it belongs to mathematics (I guess) and even to which subfield. A formal definition (I can't even figure out whether there is one now), links for non standard terms (e.g. what does means « In images» ? Is the author speaking about the way things are represented ? About a mathematical definition of this field ?) I can't do it myself, because I don't know this subject at all, and just wanted to read what it is. I have split off the article into sections which hopefully makes this article less cluttered. I have thus removed the main cleanup template and replaced it with section cleanup templates.--Officer781 (talk) 08:26, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but that previous text you reverted to is just ridiculous. It's a cooy&paste from some other article, and talks about how "we" can turn paper when drawing lattices. It may have more pictures and text, but they are meaningles and unencyclopedic. Ponor (talk) 11:18, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ponor: Ok then. Hmm. I was thinking about square lattice article. Also we probably need to create an article for rectangular lattice (one article for both primitive and centered) and oblique lattice which I currently created to redirect to Lattice (group). If you have time you might want to also create those articles. Perhaps @Tomruen: can chip in as well? Same problem here: ¬"too much time, to little to do". This field of mathematics is not something I'm familiar with, can't even say what it's called, and the old version of the article did not help me learn about it at all. What's in the article now was a quick edit because I needed it in another article: it's just what a physicist would expect in it, and it's far from complete. I think it's mostly physics articles that link to it anyway. But whoever understands the tiling and patterns side of it (or whatever the name) should feel free to add — with a nice introduction and some broader context.
