PSP Remaster brand games are emulated[edit]

http://www.1up.com/news/sony-engineers-discuss-psp-remaster

Might be interesting to mention, especially to differentiate between proper PS3 ports (like the God of War Origins Collection and MGS Peace Walker). 84.135.155.194 (talk) 18:50, 11 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Metal Gear Solid and Zone of the Enders[edit]

IGN posted an article on the upcoming MGS and Zone of the Enders collections. "The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will contain Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. The Zone of the Enders HD Collection will pack Zone of Enders and Zone of the Enders 2. Digitelle (talk) 03:42, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete[edit]

What about Monster Hunter and the other games?? --MK (talk) 10:02, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

God of War Origins Collection[edit]

The God of War Origins Collection is not part of the PSP Remasters series. It is actually a Classics HD title and this is why it has trophies. See here [1] (note it is called Vol 2 in Europe). Dell9300 (talk) 19:41, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Classics HDHigh-definition remasters for PlayStation 3 – This article currently covers at least four different concepts which are similar in theme. There's Classics HD/HD Collection, which is PS2 games with an HD upgrade, released on Blu-ray, as a set (hence the "collection"). There's PSP Remasters, which is a single PSP game getting an HD upgrade, released on Blu-ray. There's Beyond Good and Evil and Medal of Honor, which are PS2 games with an HD upgrade, released only on PSN as a download. There's Kojima Productions' "Transfarring" which is apparently not related to Classics HD at all, in terms of membership in the program; it also combines multiple elements of the previous. There's also a bunch of them also releasing on 360. At any rate, it's all very confusing and my point is that the article title doesn't seem to reflect those nuances. The one thing in common all of these have is the HD upgrade part (and releasing on PS3), so I suggest naming it in line with that. I'm not too wedded with the name "HD remasters" but that's the general term that's evolved into use throughout the article. Axem Titanium (talk) 13:27, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Move to include PSVita[edit]

I reverted the move to "Sony's High-definition remasters" since it included improper capitalization but another move does seem necessary. Perhaps "High-definition remasters for PlayStation consoles"? Please discuss. Axem Titanium (talk) 04:10, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ninja Gaiden Sigma[edit]

Isn't it also a remastered version of the original Xbox Ninja Gaiden Black? --MK (talk) 11:22, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Jak and Daxter Trilogy in HD[edit]

Guess what?

  • Jak and Daxter Trilogy in Australia
  • You got 3 games as well, you are Naughty Dog, Inc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.212.14.239 (talk) 21:19, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fix?[edit]

There is a problem on the list. Everytime a click on "First Released", the list dosent appear after release. When you click on "First Released", however, Beyond Good & Evil HD (first released: June 8, 2011) comes over Medal of Honor: Frontline HD (first released: October 12, 2010). I hope someone can fix it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SideMaster (talkcontribs) 00:06, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Xbox 360 version of article?[edit]

Although the PS3 has more HD collections, some of these are available on the Xbox 360, and the 360 also has its own exclusive HD ports. (For instance, Soul Calibur or the Dreamcast Collection.) It would be nice if an equivalent article existed since I can't find one online. I would create one myself, but these HD collections are so badly marketed, sometimes I have to search hard to discover them so it's difficult to know what's headed to the 360 or may have been released on the 360 that I'm unaware of. Thanks. 86.24.135.98 (talk) 22:31, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If Jet Set Radio HD is listed, shouldn't other Dreamcast ports on PSN also be included?[edit]

Crazy Taxi for one example of several Dreamcast classics that have been rereleased via PSN. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.79.6.240 (talk) 23:29, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think that Crazy Taxi (or Space Channel 5 pt 2, Sonic, etc.) are "HD remasters", as far as I can tell, merely ports. Jet Set Radio HD looks a lot more like an HD remaster with trophy support, etc. like BG&E and Rayman 3 HD. Axem Titanium (talk) 20:26, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Then how come Sonic Adventure 2 is listed? It's the exact same deal as the other Dreamcast rereleases here like the original Sonic Adventure. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.79.6.240 (talk) 05:29, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wouldnt it make more sense to break it down as HD Collections and single-game releases instead of "games" and "other games"?[edit]

The current way it's broken down is confusing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cyclonex45 (talkcontribs) 15:14, 17 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

PlayStation Collections[edit]

Just announced today, Sony will have a new line officially called the "PlayStation Collections". These Collections incorporate both remastered games from the PlayStation 2/Portable, but also feature PlayStation 3 games. These are more along the lines as bundled games as opposed to just being remastered collections. The first releases in this line include the God of War Saga (containing God of War I, II, III, Chains of Olympus, and Ghost of Sparta), the inFamous Collection (containing inFamous 1, 2, and Festival of Blood) and the Ratchet & Clank Collection (which this one is both of this new line and a remastered collection). My question is, should we make a new page for this new line of games, or just somehow incorporate them on to this page? If we did that latter, we may need a name change for the page. JDC808 (talk) 20:14, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

They seem thematically similar enough to incorporate into this page. Not sure if a name change is necessary yet... Axem Titanium (talk) 17:53, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well the thing is, if you look at the inFamous Collection for example, it's not a remastered collection as the games in it were originally made and released on the PS3. These are really bundles that Sony is giving an official name to. There are similarities (especially with Ratchet & Clank as it's the same). God of War Saga, though containing remastered games (as well as God of War III), is not being marketed as that, since those games have already had their release under the remastered line. If they're to be incorporated on this page, I think a name change should be made to reflect it, as the current name means this page contains remasterings of games, whereas, not all of these new collections are that. For the time being until a definite solution is found, I suggest we make a new section on the page titled PlayStation Collections, give it a description, then begin to list them (an image of the banner would be good too). JDC808 (talk) 22:07, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sure that sounds like a good plan for now. How about "High-definition re-releases for PlayStation consoles"? I hope that isn't too general... Axem Titanium (talk) 22:42, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It might be too general but it could work, though I think it takes away from the remasterings part. We'll figure something out. --JDC808 (talk) 06:31, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed that a bunch of the old remasters were called "Collections" too. This is potentially confusing to readers. Perhaps this "PlayStation Collections" is just a continuation of the old line, rather than a new thing? Axem Titanium (talk) 13:59, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Those were called "HD Collections." According to the blog post, they stated "we're officially introducing our Collections line with these releases on August 28th. Over the years we've had all sorts of great deals come your way and moving forward, this is how we plan on presenting them to our consumers." --JDC808 (talk) 23:06, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection[edit]

Wondering if this should be filed in the Playstation Collections section.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Gear_Solid:_The_Legacy_Collection — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.53.27.169 (talk) 12:32, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see why not. Axem Titanium (talk) 14:29, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Done. The MGS Legacy Collection article should be modified as well, since it's not, for example, MGS 2 Sons of Liberty but MGS 2 HD Edition which will be included. I might do it if I'll have time ^_^
Besides, MGS1 and VR Missions will be only available through a code included in the MGS Legacy package (which should be used to download the PSN version), we should add this information too.Golden Specter (talk) 09:42, 8 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Why Sonic Adventure 2?[edit]

But not the several other Dreamcast games like the original Sonic Adventure? It's the exact same type of deal as Sega Bass Fishing, Sonic Adventure, Space Channel 5: Part 2, Crazy Taxi, and Jet Set Radio. They were all ported over by the same developer in a similar style with the same sort of treatment.

Sonic Adventure 2 saw no special updates that push it into the HD remaster category more so than these other games. It was the same type of deal throughout. Several other Sega releases are also in this category like Daytona USA, several other arcade ports, Nights, Sonic CD, etc.

They're ported over rather than merely emulated and upscaled, and are natively running in HD with various enhancements like redone textures, online multiplayer, 16:9 widescreen support in some instances, etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.79.199.62 (talk) 06:39, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

PlayStation 4 remasters list[edit]

Though I added a subsection under "Overview" about it some time ago, I think a list of these games would also be good, but unsure how we should go about it. Should it go under Games and have three lists: one list for PlayStation 3 releases, one for PlayStation Vita, and the other for PlayStation 4? The other lists in the article ("PlayStation Collections" and "Other high-definition games") can stay as they are. --JDC808 22:34, 26 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

PS2 games for PS4[edit]

PS2 games are altered for release on PS4.

"Having these titles available on PS4 is already incredibly exciting for us, but we did not stop there. We have brought these titles forward to meet today’s gaming standards by adding Trophy support! Each title’s Trophy set has been carefully developed in conjunction with feedback from the original creators to be sure that they capture the spirit and feeling of each game. Also, you will be able to experience all of these PS2 games like never before — in up-rendered 1080p with the features you expect from a PS4 game including Remote Play, Live Broadcast, Share Play, Activity Feeds, and Second Screen support for game manuals with PlayStation Vita or PlayStation App."

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/12/04/fan-favorite-ps2-games-launching-on-ps4-tomorrow/

This would seem to meet any criteria for "remasters", so I think they should be included. Ozdarka (talk) 07:30, 28 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Someone with more knowledge on the technical side of remastering would be able to definitively say whether or not these are "remastered", but from my understanding, these are not remastered. These are simply bumped up to HD, but not with all the work that goes into remastering. Like I said in my edit summary, I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure these are not remastered. Possibly ask at WP:VG for some opinions there. --JDC808 08:10, 28 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Platform in "Other high-definition games"[edit]

Shouldn't we specify in "Other high-definition games" the platform these remastered versions are being released for? As it stands it's a bit confusing as some (i.e., Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD) have been released for PS3, whereas others (i.e., Full Throttle Remastered) will be released for PS4. --Tanonero (msg) 16:48, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, it can be done like the other section that specifies which console. --JDC808 20:17, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I was thinking more about adding an additional column in the existing table rather than creating subsections. --Tanonero (msg) 21:49, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
