Milan-Treviglio (not ?) operated[edit]

HS Line Milan-Treviglio is in text "the service started 2 July 2007", but in map is signed as "in construzione(under construction)". What is true ?!? --Addams (talk) 12:21, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is Italy really Europe's "cutting edge country in high speed rail transportation"?[edit]

This statement (in the first section of the article) seems like a very bold claim, rather than an objective and impartial observation. It should probably be either clearly supported by expert citations or else formulated more neutrally.

Also, the use of the word currently puts a date stamp on the statement (when was this? is it outdated already?)

Lastly, the entire sentence is worded clumsily ("cutting-edge country in", "With all the high speed network implementing").

Two paragraphs in History section[edit]

The first paragraph reads: "The first high-speed rail route in Italy, the Direttissima, opened in 1977, connecting Rome with Florence. The top speed on the line was 250 km/h (160 mph) . . ."

The second reads: "The first high-speed service was introduced in 1988-89 on the Rome-Milan line with the ETR 450 Pendolino train, with a top speed of 250 km/h . . ."

Was the top speed on the Direttissima line, despite opening in 1977, never achieved by trains in service before the late '80s? If so, was it used for testing the capabilities of high-speed rail equipment, or was it simply used by slower trains until the ETR 450 Pendolino went into service? 108.246.206.139 (talk) 17:06, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Info on Milan–Chiasso and Trieste–Ljubljana?[edit]

Hello, in the past few days I made a few changes to and updates on the information on future lines. What bothers me is that for Milan–Chiasso and Trieste–Ljubljana I can't find any information and that the current information on these lines in this article doesn't have a source (can't view the full article cited for Trieste–Ljubljana, but it seems to be about the low speed service and not about a high speed line). If there's no information to be found on these lines, do you agree they should be removed from the article? --AlexanderVanLoon (talk) 19:08, 9 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Confusing info on Palermo–Catania line[edit]

Just added a section on the Palermo–Catania line. Note that in the sources I referenced for this, I see both 200 km/h and 250 km/h mentioned and that it's not clear which speed will be made possible at which time. In my interpretation, 200 km/h comes first when the single track railway is doubled, then later 250 km/h when the entire project is finished? Also, I read nothing about a high speed connection between Messina and Catania, just capacity improvement. Are there no plans for that?
