Proposed merge[edit]

I placed a tag suggesting a merge between Himawari 8 <> Himawari (satellite). Each page has something that could contribute to the other, and they would come together to form a longer, more centralized and substantial article than the two pages alone. — VoxLuna  orbitland   16:37, 21 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Strongly oppose There are so many differences between the various satellites in the family that merging their descriptions would lead to disastrous results. I guess you aren't really familiar with Wikipedia articles on satellites, where even more "trivial" spacecraft got their own articles..... Weak oppose I am not totally against merging, however, I think Himawari-8 is rather noticeable for being the first of the "next generation" weather satellites. Both articles could benefit from a revamping. Supportstorm (talk) 17:42, 21 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose If a page could contribute to another, perhaps briefly mentioning then linking the page to the other article may be a more viable alternative. However I see where you are coming from, as Himawari 9 is to be mechanically identical to 8.  NeoGeneric 💬  09:35, 13 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
How about “Himawari 8/9” for the title? -- Meow 16:55, 15 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Until there is more information about 9, I don't think there is enough information to make a decision if the articles need to be merged.  NeoGeneric 💬  22:31, 15 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Result: Opposed. The opinions expressed during the last 6 months are clear, and the proposal is squashed. (Someone please correct my formatting if needed; this is the first vote I've presided over.) — VoxLuna  orbitland   10:09, 8 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
