Population[edit]

If you add the populations of Burns and Hines, you get over half the total population of Harney County. I think the original research policy has a caveat about simple mathematical calculations. The figures are available at each of the three pages. "By far" is accurate by any measure, and serves the reader by illustrating the sparseness of the population in the county - but I'm willing to leave it out if it's a big deal… -Pete 20:04, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I didn't realize you'd written that sentence and not some random Wikipedian! Well, you know how they say "show, don't tell", so instead of saying "by far" (which though accurate isn't very informative) why not just say the the metro area comprises over half the population of the county--I think it's a much better visual that way. Or if you really just want to say "by far", put it in a different place in the sentence: "which is by far the largest population Harney County." I think it reads better that way. What say you? An excellent point. I don't have any attachment to the "by far," I think just stating the "over half" bit, maybe with a mention of Harney having the lowest pop. density in the lower 48, is much better. I gotta run though, so I leave this in your capable hands, or for another day. -Pete 21:19, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation?[edit]

Having the pronunciation may be hepful. 66.191.19.73 (talk) 17:24, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Its pronunciation is pretty straightforward: HIGHNZ or /hainz/ (like Heinz Ketchup). 108.246.205.134 (talk) 21:50, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
