Nick's ratings are still terrible, don't sugar coat it.[edit]

It's still lagging behind Cartoon Network and Disney Channel. It only averages 1-3 million viewers nowadays, and that's a far cry from the competition. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.213.218.241 (talk) 22:22, 22 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Origin of name[edit]

Does anyone know how it came by its name? Trafford09 (talk) 08:28, 5 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"Radio Television Station"[edit]

Within the article, the following sentence exists: "Around that time, Warner-Amex Satellite Entertainment began divesting its assets and spun off Nickelodeon and two other channels, music networks MTV and the (now defunct) Radio Television Station (RTS) into the newly formed subsidiary MTV Networks; in order to increase revenue, Nickelodeon began to accept corporate underwriting (a method common in public television) for its programming. [23]"

The associated reference, though mainly intended for the mention of corporate underwriting, does not contain a mention of this supposed defunct channel mentioned. Delving deeper into when it appeared, its first manifestation was on the 11th of April, 2010, in the middle of a series of rapid fire edits by user Tvtonightokc, who failed to provide a source (which, based on some of the comments they received for their edits at the time, appeared to be an issue of theirs). This article would inherit that addition. Meanwhile, on September 16th, 2007, an anonymous user added the supposed channel to the former "Warner-Amex Satellite Entertainment" article, which would later be removed on March 24th, 2010, with the reason "Removed nonsense added... by anonymous user..."

Both of these instances have seen spread throughout the Internet, with no concrete source backing up the existence of this supposed channel, and any attempts to search for it would bring up copies from Wikipedia. One has to suspect that there must be a root cause behind these additions, even if the original source was potentially misinterpreted; but as it stands, there is no source for it in this article, nor is it mentioned at all in the ViacomCBS Domestic Media Networks. As such, the mention of "the (now defunct) Radio Television Station (RTS)" should either be removed or substituted with VH1 until further notice (such as in the case of a proper source being found).
