I'm sorry but the article about Charles IX is very unclear and also poorly written. I would change things but I don't know the history or understand what the author is trying to say. SOrry to be negative but this really needs to be cleaned up.

I totally agree, it's rambling style is more then a little confusing. This is linked from the front page!

I hope you guys don't mind but I put the bodies of text into paragraphs for easier reading.

Fall of Sweden as a Great Power[edit]

I couldn't really think of a better place to put this, but is there anyone else that thinks that an article explaining the fall of sweden as a great power would be nice to have? --HJV 02:02, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I might check into it. It seems rather complicated though and the historians seems a bit unclear on what the main cause is. Many claim that the fall of the Swedish "empire" started when Karl XII (Karl den Tolfte) got shot over in Norway.

I would have thought it started well before that. Poltava would be rather notable in this regard, for instance. john k 17:09, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Over the top[edit]

This quote seems a little over the top: "And to the honour of the Swedish people be it said that, from first to last, they showed a religious and patriotic zeal which shrank from no sacrifice. It was to this national devotion quite as much as to his own qualities that Gustavus owed his success as an empire-builder."

Perhaps "Gustavus owed much of his success as an empire-builder to the religious and patriotic zeal of the Swedes, and their willingness to sacrifice." would be better.Stifynsemons (talk) 05:22, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
