References/dead link[edit]

Reference 3, History of the Jewish Community in Libya", http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/JewsofLibya/LibyanJews/thejews.html, doesn't work anymore.
To which book/article/whatever does reference 4 (Selent, pg 20-21) refer?

A new section needs to be created to discuss this horrible and significant topic. I was very surprised to find out it doesn't exist yet. - Shalom11111 (talk) 18:35, 21 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

ERROR in Ancient History[edit]

The first paragraph of the Ancient History subsection of the History of the Jews in Libya talks of remains of a synagogue in Sirte 1,000 years BCE in the time of Solomon. What? A synagogue, a feature of Judaism in Diaspora? When the first temple was constructed? In Libya, before the Jews left Canaan? I am no expert, but do I need to be here? There is something wrong! Italian rule[edit]

Much of the text of the last paragraphs of the section Italian rule is directly from Persecution, Resettlement by Maurice M. Roumani. A phrase left out leads to someone reading "Mussolini ordered the Jews of Benghazi, Derna, Tobruk, Barce, Susa and other towns in the region to be sent to a concentration camp in Gharian in retaliation." wondering "in retaliation" to what. A Google Books preview indicates the missing phrase. Looking at the Labor Camps in Libya section in an online edition of the whole text[1] shows how much text has been copied directly to the WP article. Though Roumani is cited so much text being quoted raises the issue of copyright violation. It would probably be better to paraphrase the source. Mcljlm (talk) 02:59, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
