Red Wings[edit]

Minnesota/Michigan[edit]

This article -- which has transformed into a Twin Cities/Minnesota vs. Detroit/Michigan war -- is in dire need of clean-up. IMO, it should follow the Detroit Red Wings "Hockeytown, USA" (and be renamed as such) marketing campaign (wasn't the the original purpose of this article, anyway??). I agree a link to Warroad, MN (the original "hockeytown") should be added. Perhaps a note adhering to Minnesota hockey fans taking exception to Detroit's campaign should be added, but that should not be the focus of this article. (Especially since it leads to factual inaccuracies... for example, the Twin Cities were never directly or indirectly referred to specificially as "Hockeytown," except in response to the Red Wings campaign, although this article suggests otherwise...) To call St. Paul Minnesota Hockeytown is ridiculous. The Wild has never won anything and is only ten years old. The Red Wings are an Original Six team and have won 11 Stanley Cups (the most of any U.S. team). After the North Stars left for Dallas, the city waited seven years for another team, and nobody voiced any audible displeasure while Raleigh, Phoenix, Denver, Atlanta, and Nashville got teams and St. Paul/Minneapolis didn't. If St. Paul is Hockeytown, why is the Wild 15th in attendance? If you want to be called Hockeytown, at least look like you care. Ekcrbe (talk) 16:13, 12 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Trademark[edit]

I grew up in the town of Berlin, NH. Entering the town from the south you crossed under two over sized goalie sticks and a puck proclaiming Berlin as Hockey Town USA. The greeting sign was up through the late 1960s and 1970s although is now down. The moniker followed the towns men's amateur team winning a pair of AHA national championships in mid to late 1960's64.7.191.240 (talk) 16:12, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Canada[edit]

New "Other Hockeytowns" section[edit]
