I have explicitly made the use of Holland for Netherlands the top line in this article, as there is much discussion whether Netherlands or Holland should be the official name (see discussion page Netherlands) ---arnoutf

England or Britain[edit]

It is more accurate to say that "Britain" is sometimes used to refer to the United Kingdom as they are both basically the same country. However, England is not the same as Britain or the United Kingdom and it is totally inaccurate to use these terms interchangeably. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.242.178.236 (talk) 18:25, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

But that's the point exactly: it is in precisely the same sense not correct to use "Holland" for The Netherlands.--MWAK (talk) 13:43, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Strictly speaking, 'Britain' or 'Great Britain' is not the correct name for the United Kingdom either, because it refers to the main island and does not include Northern Ireland. But this gets confused even more than the Netherlands/Holland thing. SeverityOne (talk) 22:59, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
