History[edit]

It seems a bit weird this is the first sentence of the history section rather than something about when the company was founded: "In late November 2013, activist investor Carl Icahn disclosed a 12.5% stake in the company." 82.147.226.240 (talk) 14:14, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I[edit]

I reverted a number of edits to this page that were subjectively negative. Sounded like an analyst that wants to paint a nasty picture of Hologic. Let's keep things objective. ask123 19:21, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I added link to "objective" Hologic public SEC 10Q statement showing negative growth. (http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/859737/000119312507106160/d10q.htm)

The Hologic page is meant to be an encyclopedic entry on the company. In other words, it describes the company, what it does, and so on. Financial information can be included, in so far as it pertains to the company's structure, mission, quality of care, etc. But including every financial detail is superfluous. Also, quote after quote, of analyst opinions is irrelevant. Firstly, analysts are hardly objective. They literally move markets. And their opinion is meant to guide investors and other analysts who are trying to profit from the purchase and sale of the stock. Secondly, their opinions are simply not pertinent to this article as explained above. If there is a lot of criticism among patients, hostpitals, and/or doctors, then perhaps a "criticism" section is warranted. But the rabble (a.k.a. "spin") of the financial community, of which I happen to be a part, is of little use to this entry.

Oh, and also, "negative growth" is negative only in that it means growth diminishing, not that it's patently negative. That doesn't denote impropriety, corruption, or negative issues of integrity or virtue of any kind. It simply means that they are not selling as much of their product as they have in the past (or that margins have slimmed or prices have gone down).

Also, can you please sign your posts with four tildes (a tilde = ~) for the benefit of other readers and contributors? Many thanks! Cheers! ask123 16:42, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Peacocking[edit]

Parts of this sound like a press release. Please avoid vague terms like "state of the art" and "leading developer". That doesn't communicate concrete information to the reader. It would be better to say "One of the three largest companies in mammography" (or whatever the actual facts are). WhatamIdoing (talk) 05:35, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
