The Irony of Homefront

The irony of this game is that it appears to represent the USA with a 'shining light' of hope and democracy. Unfortunately, complaints from consumers on the THQ forums are deleted or hidden. Updates to the 'Homefront (video game)' main Wiki page that reflect actual/truthful problems with the game are deleted. Two things: A, this is just WP:OR and is therefore irrelevant. B, you do not have the right to free speech on a forum unless the administrator of the forum says so. A company forum (or any forum really) is private property in cyberspace and your rights to free speech do not apply there. Get an RS talking about it and then come back. Wait Until It's Out

For commercial purposes, this game does not even exist. Until it influences some sort of popular or cultural demand, I don't see how this work-in-progress, run-of-the-mill, cookie-cutter game deserves an article. Actually, video games that have yet to be released do make it into Wikipedia on most instances. Thus, it is entirely acceptable, and does not even run into any sort of conflict with the manual of style. Interesting that by virtue of it not being out yet, you are confident its cultural impact does not warrant a Wikipedia article. Yet in spite of your very acknowledgment that it is not out yet, you are nevertheless confident that it is "run-of-the-mill". You really need to put your crystal ball to better uses than this. I agree, I watched the trailer and it seems plausible but very unlikely, Where is China in the story? They wouldn't let the Koreans do this, if North Korea even thinks about invading S. Korea then we have troops right there at the border, the Communist north uses old ww2 and Cold war surplus, their economy is absolutely destroyed by their communistic ideals, and in the trailer the price of gas went up to near $20 a gallon, since when does S. Korea control our gas prices? Oh and to top it off, we've armed S. False Information

This particular segment is what has grabbed my attention:

This world also features fictional physics; for example, EMP bombs are capable of destroying almost any infrastructure, and objects of interest are magnetically attracted to the player.

No link is provided to reinforce this claim and none of the previews i've read have stated any of this. I believe someone who is unhappy with the scenario put forward in the game is trying to put it in bad light. The above information is NOT false. Virtually every source that I've seen for this game mentions that, as part of the back story, EMP bombs destroy America's infrastructure, but here are some sources that reference this bit of fictional physics.[2][3][4]

EMPs CAN destroy infrastructure, it's no secret. An EMP can knock out, simultaneously, all electronics-based forms of transportation (cars, aeroplanes, trains, etc), annihilate communications (no electronics within the affected zone would work), and anything else that relies on circuits (as in, the U.S.' ENTIRE infrastructure) would be ruined without any way to repair it. If that isn't destroying infrastructure, I dunno what is. Everyone would be reduced to biking to places, candle-lighting their houses, and using ice to keep food fresh. Actually if an EMP burst went up right now above me I could turn on my cell phone (currently off) without a problem because EMP only affects ACTIVE systems. This computer I am using however would be a paperweight. Also, the US (And Russian, and French and German, etc...) military equipment is hardend against EMP because it was expected during the Cold War that it would be used in battle with nukes going off at random. A military computer is going to shrug it off without a problem, as will a jet fighter. Regardless, it is not as Mareino says "false physics"; most civilian technology would be eliminated, including cars and most electronics systems, since most people have a penchant of leaving the latter on forever. And our infrastructure is entirely civilian. I am assessing as Start. A good way to improve it would be to remove the timeline (or at least appropriately demonstrate it in prose), adding reception from previews or observations from reliable sources, and making a Development section. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Article expansion

Possibly add list of weapons such as the bmp vehicles and emp grenades. Also add factor of realism, say target damage of the fusilage on certain vehicles. If in common with other games, would also add APC street vehicles, if they are or are not. Lots of these weapons are new or unknown. Is it possible to concisely give a list of weapons list? On a side note Personally i have no qualms against this game. I like this game, the implementation of large environments is a new feature to incorporate, even if thq is new to this field of realworld fps multi-vehicular gaming. Reviews gave it 70 which is abit harsh. Game deserves atleast an 80.

As well, this game has features common in mp such as 'stalking' and 'scoping opponents. Yeah sure the koreans look like arabic hoodlums sometimes. Sure the graphics sometimes remind me of tony hawk 2 so wat anyways its how u play the game. What sort of DRM, also quit it. =p

First off, ZOMG COREAN INVASION OF THE LEFT COAST AND THE MIDWEST WASTELAND! Second, I see Steam for the PC version which makes me sad, but what other sort of DRM will there be? People want to know this sort of thing if they are considering buying it for PC so that they can determine how bad the infection is and whether it is worth it or they should probably get a console version. Don't tell them ofc or put your own opinion in, but provide the info for them to make a smart choice. Lastly, would people quit whining about the plot being BS and about the EMP? I mean it's speculative fiction (with probably a bit of fantasy), it's supposed to be made up and somewhat daffy. As for the EMP. Think of something like Star Wars with its lightsabers. It is not possible to trap a laser beam like that as the Force (sadly) does not exist. Let's apply that sort of thinking here. You want to see really implausible: Prayers for the Assassin, now that is implausible (Israel would totally nuke New York (Jew York), Washington and Mecca, riiiiight). Reception

The reception section states that the game scored better than Call of Duty: Black Ops on Metacritic and better than both Black Ops and Bad Company 2 on Game Rankings. While there is a citation on that in the article, I really don't see the relevance of that information. The last time I checked Wikipedia was an online encyclopedia, not a website to compare which games are better. It seems somewhat biased to me. I thought it would also be worth mentioning that I have pre-ordered Homefront and I already own Black Ops and Bad Company 2, so I hold no bias towards any of these games. It isn't too early to have reviews from game reviewers if they have gotten to play the game early. Not all. However, you are absolutely right that its score shouldn't be compared to other FPSs, it's not a pissing contest after all as you said (though much more elegantly). Thank you for making that fix. Now that the game has been released the reviews section needs some editing. Several reviews of the game have been released from major gaming media outlets such as IGN and gameinformer. Would it be possible for someone to create one of those tables with all of the major reviewers scores as well as the overall scores from Game Rankings and Metacritic? I have never done any editing to an actual article on Wikipedia and there are people far more experienced than I am. It would be greatly appreciated. - George

Vandalism

Someone vandalized the article and I've tried restoring the article to the best of my ability ,however since this is really the first time I've ever meddled with a wiki article someone else is going to have to do the proper revisions. All I was able to accomplish was to undo enough changes to get rid of vulgar language. So is there any company statement about how Kim Song-Un, in the course of a year, manages to reunite the Corean Peninsula and then in only 15 years bring us to our knees? What is DLC?

At the end of the article there is a section called DLC and I have no idea what DLC's are. I looked up on the site and there are several options to pick from but as far as I can tell it means Downloadable content? However I just wanted to make sure before I do anything. The reason I want to change it is because the article does not make sense if, like me, the word DCL means noting to you. Sale banned in N/S Korea?

I just got off Skype with my friend who's in the Air Force and has spent the last year in Kunsan AFB. He bought the game on-base, as it's considered American territory. Similar movie

I remember seeing a trailer for a movie about North Korea invading the US. It seems it was Red Dawn, but I thought the name was "Homefront" for a second and spent some time trying to search for it. Funny enough, both Homefront and Red Dawn had China references changed to North Korea. We should not imply a relation between the two without sources explicitly saying one was based on or inspired by the other. For now, mentioning the refuted claim that the writer of the original Red Dawn wrote Homefront in the intro is fine. We're not going to start putting that the new Red Dawn is Homefront: The Movie. as i said, the servers are not actually offline, the playlists are just unavailable. private matches (online, not just local) can still be made and played. if servers were truly offline this wouldnt be possible. i have the game and just played it to re-confirm this (have been checking at least once a month if the playlists became available again). wanna play online? gather some friends.

about mid-september last year, i put the game on my ps3 to see the status of the online. now it simply flashes white whenever i choose online. this means even (online) private matches are no longer available. removing the sentence saying you cant still play privates.
