Age discrepancy[edit]

In the infobox and in the lead, this article says Van Meter was born on December 3, 1906; but in the Early life section it says:

He was arrested for the first time at age 17, for drunk and disorderly conduct. In Aurora, Illinois, on June 23, 1923, Van Meter was sentenced to 41 days in jail for larceny.

If he was born on December 3, 1906, he was 16 years old on June 23, 1923, when he was sentenced to prison. Surely he was not sentenced to prison before he was arrested for the first time. Either "He was arrested for the first time at age 17" is incorrect, or the June 23, 1923, date of his sentencing for larceny is incorrect, or the December 3, 1906, birth date is incorrect.--Jim10701 (talk) 07:16, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Citations needed and not needed[edit]

Currently, the Death section contains excessive redundant citations from the Lawrence Journal-World 1934 source. I would remove some of these, but since the body of the article as a whole lacks citations for much of the specific information, it will stand until further improvements are made. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kirby777 (talkcontribs) 02:01, 17 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
