"Reboots?"[edit]

"Its announcement follows the recent release of several reboots... " What "reboots?" The only Homeworld games to be released in recent years before the announcement of Homeworld 3 have been Homeworld Remastered and Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak, neither of which were any form of reboot. Homeworld Remastered was a graphical upgrade of the original two games to high definition, and Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak was a prequel that showed events that took place leading up to the original game. Neither of those games qualify as "reboots" in any sense of the term. The term "reboot" seems to be tossed around far too casually and with little regard for accuracy. "Rebooting" an intellectual property franchise means to start over again at the beginning with a new continuity, not to create a sequel (or prequel) to the original game(s), even after a long period of dormancy, while continuing with the same continuity. This might be confusing the words reboot and remaster. Still, I totally agree with you that reboot is the wrong word here and reiterating that Homeworld Remastered Collection is a remaster seems superflous, so I just removed the reboot part and instead added a remark on Deserts of Kharak being a prequel trying to stay true to what I perceived as the intent of the original author. --Mastacheata (talk) 13:19, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
