June 2007[edit]

The best source for CB500 info is CB500 club. Nick 13:21, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

December 2007[edit]

Someone recently changed the date that the CB500 was made until to 2002. I believe this is wrong. Lots of sources say that the bike was available in 2003. Apparently it was not legal to buy them after 17 June 2003 due to the emissions regulations. There are definitely 03-registered CB500s out there! But the situation may be different in different countries. Nick (talk) 12:57, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

1997 Model[edit]

Hi guys, I was just looking at this page and noticed that according to Motorcycle News, the rear drum brake was converted to a disk brake in 1997, not 1996. (see here http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bikereviews/searchresults/Bike-Reviews/Honda/HONDA-CB500-1994--2003/ ). Is this correct and how would you guys rate the accuracy of Motorcyclenews.com overall?

I'm new to Wikipedia, so any advice in regard to this or other matters would be extremely helpful.

Page scope[edit]

This is not meant as a criticism because there is a universal problem with Wiki pages, their scope. In common with many pages on cars and motorbikes, this page can't quite make up it's mind what it covers: just the 1993-2003 CB500 or that plus the 2013- replacement. As on other pages, I suggest that 'CB500' should refer to all the ranges, including the later euro emission compliant replacement. Of course, there is always the problem of the early CB500 (and CB550) fours. In view of this, maybe this page should be titled 'CB500 Twins' (manufacturers don't half create confusion with their model designations- Henry Ford was one of the first!). Assuming we include the 2013- mark, it would be nice to see a pic of this model (I've more or less given up with pics on Wiki because of the hassle). CPES (talk) 08:38, 19 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to whoever changed the title to 'CB500 twin'. This will help clear the ambiguity with the model designations. I suggest now that both marks be treated in detail (drum brakes on early mark 1 etc) in their own sections as with other bike pages. There is also a conundrum with the side panel right info box and the specification table. see my posts on Wiki Honda CBF1000 talk for similar comments: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Honda_CBF1000 CPES (talk) 09:40, 19 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I added a separate page for the 2013 range as the content here didn't seem to work as a whole. But then it came in for some style criticism of its own. Would appreciate some guidance tav (talk) 20:25, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • As was pointed out to me, both articles reference the CBR500 for which the title is somewhat confusing --tav (talk) 22:02, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • References to 2013 range removed tav (talk) 20:09, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
