Station opening date[edit]

I have changed the station opening date from 28 July 1874 to 1 October 1874. This source mentions clearly on 28 July that the station will not open with the rest of the line:

“

...there are several stoppages by the way, although no station has yet been made. One is talked of at Hoy, and it will depend on the traffic whether it is constructed or not.

”

However, I have not been able to find a reference for the 1 October 1874 date. However, this date has been used on other articles such as History of the Far North of Scotland Railway Line and Sutherland and Caithness Railway so I have included it here as well. @FozzieHey Quick, Michael (2023) [2001]. Railway passenger stations in Great Britain: a chronology (PDF). version 5.05. Railway & Canal Historical Society. p. 249. says 1 October 1874 based on information from the Railway Clearing House and a company notice published in the John o' Groat Journal on 1 October. The journal is on the British Newspaper Archive so you can see the notice for yourself here Nthep (talk) 22:14, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the PDF, I haven't seen that before. I did actually find that newspaper notice before, which sort of implies the opening of Hoy, with the text "Opening of the line throughout", but it doesn't mention Hoy's opening directly. From my searches I can only find Hoy on timetables from 1 October 1874, which again adds to the credibility of that being the correct date. FozzieHey (talk) 22:22, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
