Haizhou (海州)[edit]

Was Haizhou (海州) a prefecture name in Huai'an between the Tang and Ming dynasties? 173.88.246.138 (talk) 00:09, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There was a Haizhou. It was near but separate from Huai'an. — LlywelynII 21:16, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What a mess[edit]

So far it seems like whoever created this hash of a history section hasn't met a name s/he couldn't somehow misspell. Hangou > Gangou, Chen Deng > Cheng Deng, Guangling > Guanglin, &c. &c. &c. I'd say I'm surprised they managed to spell Zhou Enlai correctly but somehow Zhou didn't even make it into the history section. Anyway, this nonsense has spread all across the internet copied from here so it's past time to clean it up. That includes trimming some things that might have some basis in reality in another spelling or translation:

"Qian Road", "Shan Road", and "highway built by the first Qin Emperor"

don't seem to exist outside this article but may refer to actual paths or misunderstood canals.

"Mei Chen and Mei Gao, and Chen Lin"

may actually refer to humans (although not "famous artist... Han-text composers") but should only be added back when there are links to these famous people's articles or (at minimum) their actual Chinese names with pinyin... assuming they're actually from this area. Chen Lin does have an article and did live in Guangling Commandery... the Yangzhou part of it that doesn't really have much to do with this article. — LlywelynII 21:16, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
