I moved the article to a more appropriate title, rewrote parts of it, and added all the references I could find online. I did not find sources indicating White was considered an "All American" [1] but he captained the 1902 Rose Bowl winning national champion team which had a combined 550-0 score for the season. If the 1898-1902 newspapers were checked offline there would doubtless be much discussion which could be added to the article, as well as many sources which are in books or other publications which require a fee to view them. See Google books [2] . Edison (talk) 18:01, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Further personal details which may be a guide to research on his biography. I doubt the statement that he was born in New York. He attended college in Michigan and later lived in Scarsdale NY (per NY Times obit). Ancestry.com (subscription) has some primary sources which can be helpful in finding in evaluating and finding secondary reliable sources, or in removing unsourced info from the main article, but which themselves perhaps should not be cited in the main article. The 1910 US Census shown "Hugh White" born in Michigan 1877. living in Eastchester, Westchester County NY, wife Abbie, & 2 daughters, occupation: clerk in a studio. There is a passport application from 15 September 1917 by "Hugh White," resident of Scarsdale, New York, who was born in Lapeer, Michigan on 7 November 1876, son of Henry Kirk White, who died in Michigan in 1898. His occupation is "General manager, Tiffany Studios." His photo on the passport application looks like White in the 1901 Michigan team photo [3]. Another passport application the next year for the same individual shows a much older looking man than the then age of 41. The 1920 US Census shows "Hugh White" in Eastchester, Westchester County, born in Michigan about 1877, married to Abbie with 3 daughters aged 8 to 15. As possibly living persons, I will not include their information. He worked as a "decorator" at "Decorator's Studio, New York." The 1930 U.S. Census shows "Hugh White", Scarsdale, Westchester County resident, age 53, born in Michigan, living in a $100,000 home he owns, chaiman of the board of a construction company, with wife Abbie E, and 3 daughters age 19-35. His mother was Annie M. Undoubtedly the subject of the article. They do suggest avenues of research for more reliable sources on his career. The obituary from the NY Times, viewable in full at a library, should provide some details. Edison (talk) 19:23, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Looked up the NY Times obit and added details from it to the article, along with his birth date from his 1917 passport application. Edison (talk) 19:27, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
