Nicole is not yet a tropical storm but why the draft’s title is ‘’Tropical Storm Nicole (2022)?’’ 115.96.152.73 (talk) 09:44, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It soon will become a tropical storm and we can move the article Rainbow Galaxy POC (talk) 13:10, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Done and now the storm is now Tropical Storm Nicole Rainbow Galaxy POC (talk) 15:50, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hurri. Nicole has also done great financial damage to Florida[edit]

I added this to the end of the introduction. 2603:3020:BE7:A000:6C65:4CEF:E9FC:2233 (talk) 15:23, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It has been removed because it was unsourced. It can be reverted back if there is a reliable source provided. Sarrail (talk) 15:25, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely too soon to include any speculative damage estimates or make any broad dire statements in the article. Drdpw (talk) 15:58, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Other states[edit]

Are the other states affected by Nicole just going under "Elsewhere" or what? Mitch199811 (talk) 17:17, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

section headers now read 'Other states'. Drdpw (talk) 17:32, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, unless Nicole has significant impacts on a specific state. Sarrail (talk) 17:32, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed some things[edit]

Nicole has dissipated on November 12. 2022 35.136.106.82 (talk) 22:14, 12 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Accuweather[edit]

AccuWeather states damage from Nicole was 8-12 billion. Idk if that is accurate though, but IMO, it could be possible. Hurricane Su (talk) 02:34, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Hurricane Su Accuweather is an unreliable source for the most part they are the same people that thought Hurricane Henri caused $8-12 Billion in damages but in reality, it caused $700 million. They also did the same thing with Hurricane Ian they thought Ian caused $190 Billion, but in reality it caused around $50-70 Billion. They like overblowing things to get more clicks on their website. So we should wait on Aon or NOAA or some other reliable source to release their numbers for Nicole. Cyclonetracker7586 (talk) 05:59, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay thanks! Hurricane Su (talk) 12:06, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Hurricane Su No problem. Cyclonetracker7586 (talk) 15:48, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Canada[edit]

Did Nicole do anything significant to Canada to get a section? Mitch199811 (talk) 02:22, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Where? I don't see anything that involves Canada, besides a source. Sarrail (talk) 02:28, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It rained in southern Quebec and Maritime Canada. There were gusty winds and isolated power outages. Nothing significant going by the CTV and CBC coverage. Drdpw (talk) 03:06, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No section needed based on the minor damage it caused. Sarrail (talk) 03:21, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Rainfall in United Kingdom[edit]

According to the 2022–23 European windstorm season article, Ex-Nicole (according to Free University of Berlin. (Deutscher Wetterdienst) did affect United Kingdom bringing heavy rains.(UK weather forecast: Brits to be lashed by torrential downpours as warnings issued mirror.co.uk)Should it be written in this article? 115.96.154.63 (talk) 13:08, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nicole was absorbed by the cold front and it was a separate low that crossed the Atlantic. And FYI, forecasts are not facts they are predictions. Drdpw (talk) 13:27, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I understand. 115.96.154.63 (talk) 13:32, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes this forecasted rainfall is not directly associated with Nicole Hurricane Chandler (talk) 01:08, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Images of Damages in Florida[edit]

Hey guys, I just uploaded some pictures of damages on commons of damages from Nicole in Volusia county a few weeks after the fact. ✶Mitch199811✶ [Talk] 22:51, 18 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

RfC for the best image of Hurricane Nicole[edit]

The following discussion is an archived record of a request for comment. Please do not modify it. No further edits should be made to this discussion. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
Consensus was for option 1. RandomInfinity17 (talk - contributions) 22:16, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Which of the following options is the best image of Hurricane Nicole?

This will be the image used for the Hurricane Nicole (2022) infobox, 2022 Atlantic hurricane season#Hurricane Nicole infobox, and Weather of 2022#November image. Elijahandskip (talk) 16:43, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

  • Option 2 — Out of the three options, which are all Hurricane Nicole just before landfall in Florida, option 2 provides the most context and honestly the best visually appealing satellite imagery of Hurricane Nicole. Option 1 was taken at 06:20 UTC, Option 2 was taken at 06:57 UTC, and Option 3 was taken at 07:10 UTC. Both option 1 and three appear to have been taken with the satellite farther south than when option 2 was taken, as option 2 appears to be more “directly looking down” at Hurricane Nicole, rather than a little bit down and horizontal to Hurricane Nicole. So Option 2 is my choice as it is the most visually appealing image to the reader. Elijahandskip (talk) 16:43, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Option 1 Option 3 is transparent and is undesirable. As for option 2, per WP:WPTC/IMG says that the most iconic image of the storm should be used, which I argue it is. Option 2 is in gray scale (which is the 6th choice for WP:WPTC/IMG) and colored images are preferred. Also, there is nothing about needing the image to be centered (eg. Hurricane Irene). RandomInfinity17 (talk - contributions) 18:11, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Just a question. When you say option one is the most iconic, is there RS sources that use it, or how are you determining it is the most iconic? Also, if it is the "most iconic", why didn't the National Hurricane Center use it anywhere in their tropical cyclone report on Hurricane Nicole? Elijahandskip (talk) 18:45, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I guess I was just saying the colored images seem to be preferred over grayscale images. RandomInfinity17 (talk - contributions) 19:11, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Option 1. In addition to what is stated above, #1 provides us with sharper cloud details, which gives viewers a better sense of the storm's structure, and is free from the distractions of city lighting and superimposed coastlines and state lines. My !vote is also informed by this (now archived) discussion on the 2022 AHS talk page. Drdpw (talk) 20:41, 20 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Option 1 All three of them have issues. While I do think 2 looks nice, it is in grey scale. Option 3 is close to the current one except the clouds are extra transparent. While option 1 is blurry and off-centered.
I am choosing option 1 as it is the current image and has no show stopping flaws. Though, I feel like we need a higher quality image of 1 or something close in time. ✶Mitch199811✶ 11:59, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Option #1 (Current Image) Per WPTC/IMG, visible images are preferred over infrared images, so Option #3 would be eliminated since it is an infrared image of Nicole. Infrared images should be used in a last resort type situation, say if there was no full moon or gibbous moon that would illuminate the storm at night. VIIRS satellites would not be able to pick up any visible light from the storm, which at the time Nicole was active, was a waning gibbous moon. That is why we have Options #1 and #2. Now the problem with Option #2 is that it is a grayscale image. Colored images have precedence over grayscale images though Option #2 is also a visible image. Also, another problem with Option #2 is that the state borders are somewhat distracting.
Furthermore, I mentioned in the 2022 Atlantic hurricane seasons' talk page back in November here not all tropical cyclone images have to be centered the polar orbiting satellites don't pass over tropical cyclones all the time there are a few tropical cyclone images on Wikipedia we are using that is off-centered. Even Option #2 isn't centered over Nicole's eye. The only one that is centered is Option #3, which doesn't look visually appealing, so Option #1 is best to use, but this is only my opinion. Cyclonetracker7586 (talk) 14:42, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Option #1 (Current Image) for the reasons already said by others supporting this option. Fad Ariff (talk) 12:11, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Option #1 (Current Image)According to WPTC/IMGthe color image Option #1 and Option #3 are preferred over Option #2.Option #3 is the infrared image of Nicole, according toWPTC/IMG Option #1 is the best option.--Lqy328 (talk) 06:38, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
