Date of birth[edit]

The date of birth of Hyman Levy is disputed.

The article at present, citing ONDB, gives the date as 27 February 1899. But a footnote mentions that Who's Who records his birth date as 7 March 1889.

I have checked the statutory register of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Scotland and can confirm that the correct date was 7th March 1899. (see https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/images/pdf/stat_births/stat_births-9568939_3481609?headers=0 - requires login and payment).

The register also discloses that he was born at No 64, Potterrow, Edinburgh and his birth was registered on 27th March 1899 by his mother, Minna Cohen or Levy. His parents had married in Leeds on 16th March 1884 according to the register.
