The 1908[edit]

I've removed this:

ICL 1908A A missed opertunity! This processor was a byte oriented machine where the Character organised prior 1900 seies had two extra bit's added to the logic of each character transforming it into a byte. Duals

I think we were the first customer site to go live with George, resulting in our work load going ballistic and the engineers were all making nice noises. As a result the machine we had then simply could not cope and I was told to go find another. We settled on a dual 1904S which was perfect for George III and a MOP service and went like a train. We tried never to load more than 20 jobs at once, but it would process rather more than that. Success bred success, the 360 went and the digital analogue computer simulator took over a lot of the analogue computer's load, for which the queue was endless.
