I have split the newly added contents between here and IEC_60601.--MarmotteiNoZ 23:27, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Why? There's very little to say about the whole standard, and spltting it to atoms seems pointless. --Wtshymanski (talk) 00:45, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

I don't agree it is pointless; the initial reason that made me split them up was to clarify the contents that had been added since my earlier contributions. Indeed these contents were confusingly related to either the series or to the geenral, or to particulars or to collaterals. Also, the varied eleemnts of the series are at diverse levels of revisions, maturity and applicability. I believe things will be clearer if the structure of the subject is reflected, at least partly, in the structure of the WP articles, than if everythign is merged in one complex article. --MarmotteiNoZ 03:29, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

I think details of the different levels and applications might be a little too specialized for a general purpose encyclopedia. I'd like to see more discussion of why the standard was thought necessary, how much market-penetration it has achieved, etc. - more about impacts, and less about technical implementation details of minute significance. --Wtshymanski (talk) 15:12, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
Totally agree :-) Those are important points to discuss; I'll try next time I found an hour or two.--MarmotteiNoZ 23:56, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
