Caps[edit]

Is there some reason that some of the standards use capital suffix letters and some use lower case? Unless IEEE actually uses inconsistent canonical names for these standards can we unify? Until then I'm at least going to adjust links like IEEE 802.1d where the article exists under the name IEEE 802.1D and IEEE 802.1x which already redirects to IEEE 802.1X. Upper case letters are standards; lower case are amendments to other standards. So the case is important. --Rick Sidwell 06:08, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Target article titles[edit]

Another question: some of the sub-ordinate page titles are "IEEE 802...." (eg IEEE 802.1D, IEEE 802.1p) while some of the others are just the number (eg 802.1s and 802.1w), and still others are a completely English title (eg 802.1AB -> Link Layer Discovery Protocol). I've even found: the actual 802.1AB page redirects to this (IEEE 802.1) article, rather than to Link Layer Discovery Protocol.

My suggestion is to rename pages until it is consistent, with an "IEEE ..." prefix, with an odd redirect to handle cases like 802.1AB. Nick 147.76.180.129 (talk) 04:11, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
