List of HD Programs[edit]

We should create a list of all the Programs on ITV HD, which are in High Definition. Ijanderson977 (talk) 09:44, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It wouldn't take long! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.34.70.44 (talk) 14:06, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ITV HD Availability in Scotland and NI[edit]

It would be good if there was a section to explain why ITV HD is unavailable in regions outside England and Wales. I would write it but I don't know why it's unavailable :-) Jackster (talk) 21:58, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

STV (Scotland) and (UTV) Northern Ireland, currently hold the licenses to broadcast in those regions. As such they have their own advertising arrangements in place. ITVHD is centrally run, and would therefore not allow STV and UTV to live up to advertising commitments. The two are also in dispute with ITV about money owed for programmes made with or without consent (depending on your view).

ITV have indicated that they will not be renewing the licenses post 2012 and will beam ITV to the territories then, so presumably ITVHD will start around the time licenses are revoked.

STV have started an STVHD but UTV have indicated they have no intention of doing so because of cost. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.143.225.142 (talk) 19:12, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How to add ITV1 HD to SKY HD when not directly available[edit]

(Possible section or stub)

Whilst ITV1 HD is licensed only for England and Wales, it is possible to add the channel to a standard SKY+ HD box outside of these regions.

Carry out the following to add this channel.

On your SKY+ HD remote controller...

  1. Press the services button
  2. Scroll right to the OPTIONS menu and press select
  3. Scroll right to the ADD CHANNELS menu and press select
  4. Type 11.427 for the Frequency
  5. Change the Polarisation to H
  6. Change the Symbol Rate to 27.5
  7. Change the FEC to 2/3
  8. Press the Yellow button to find channels
  9. Scroll down to 10510 and press Yellow button to store this channel

This channel has now been added.

To view this channel carry out the following...

  1. Press the services button
  2. Scroll right to the OPTIONS menu and press select
  3. Scroll right to the OTHER CHANNELS menu and press select
  4. Locate 10510 and press select to view

This procedure is known to be correct as of 2nd July, 2010.
Any takers? Section or stub? Legal? Please discuss. Gonads3 (talk) 21:46, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think that something similar was removed from the article under WP:NOTGUIDE. - Jasmeet_181 (talk) 22:08, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Found some [1][2][3]. - Jasmeet_181 (talk) 22:13, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. Perhaps a note and link to here or here. Only forum links though. Gonads3 (talk) 22:18, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have now added details to the infobox, like many of the other FTA channels, excluding any encrypted variations. - Jasmeet_181 (talk) 22:55, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. Did you mean 11426 though? Gonads3 (talk) 23:38, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, see KingOfSat, although entering 11427 or 11428 seems to work too.[4] - Jasmeet_181 (talk) 01:31, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

We should merge this[edit]

I think that this article (ITV1 HD) should be merged with the ITV 1 article, and have the information about the high defintion simulcast to be as a sub-heading called "High definition" along with the ITV1 HD logo in the sub-heading.

Agree - a simulcast channel is not notable in of itself Jasonfward (talk) 19:09, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please note the comment was made around 2 years ago, plus this article also deals with when the channel was not a simulcast, and also covers the test channel. However I do not oppose the ideal of the ITV HD simulcast being split from this article to the main ITV article. -- [[ axg ◉ talk ]] 19:58, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It would make make sense, I'd go with the red button service onwards being merged. - Jasmeet_181 (talk) 05:13, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

ITV1 Breakfast HD[edit]

There is absolutely no mention of ITV1 Breakfast HD (the replacement for GMTV) and whether ITV1 Breakfast broadcast up 09:25am each morning under ITV1 HD airtime. Stephen Howe (talk) 21:18, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Channel Islands[edit]

ITV HD used to be available via the red button on Freesat in the Channel Islands while being missing from channel 119 on the Freesat EPG, but this appears to no longer be the case. I assume it's because of the heavy reliance on very localised advertising revenue, which would be lost if viewers migrated (as I would) to ITV HD. Of course, all you need to do is put a mainland postcode into the box, although you then get the wrong region on 103. David (talk) 18:50, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Technical problems[edit]

How on earth are the details of the technical issues suffered by the channel at all notable? All channels that I have watched have had technical difficulties at one time or another, and all of those listed in the article are minor (technically speaking), the only one that seems even worth passing mention was missing the goal in the football, but I cannot see any justification for a list which is almost certainly incomplete. Jasonfward (talk) 19:08, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notability guidelines apply to article creation rather than content (WP:NNC), although it could be summarised into a sentence or two rather than mentioning every example. - Jasmeet_181 (talk) 05:13, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
