Boy or Bouy[edit]

It seems like a general misconseption that the song is called "For today i am a boy", but on my cover it says "For Today I am a Bouy." with the the last punctuation mark present. Drange net 20:55, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Especially with the misspelling of "Bird Gerhl" on the album, I would say the title of the song should be as listed on the page as on the album. Both seem intentional by the artist.--Will.i.am 20:40, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Spotify, iTunes, etc. all refer to the song as "For Today I am a Boy", so I'm going to change the tracklisting to the standard. Puffingbird (talk) 17:18, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mercury Music Prize[edit]

The first clause of the second sentence is a bit superfluous. Why not just: "It won the Mercury Music Prize on September 6 2005"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.111.135.225 (talk) 13:05, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Genre(s)[edit]

Hi, this has been on my list for a while, I have removed three genres to just leave "Baroque pop" as this is the best description of their music. Indie pop is jangly guitars and all, soul, oh come on, he might have a soulful voice but this is not Motown or Stax, as for dark cabaret I think this is just wishful thinking because they look wierd and have moody music.
Can find no reference that refers to them as "dc". (Also see Dresden Dolls as an example of a dc band and note the instrumentation, nothing classical there, well apart from piano which is a pretty ubiquitous instrument anyway).

As to the definition of baroque pop, it "brought elements of classical music into the writing and recording of rock 'n' roll songs" and "Baroque pop may be distinguished from progressive rock, which also uses classical instrumentation, by its generally simpler song structures closer to standard pop song writing, and also by its more mainstream lyrical content as opposed to the generally conceptual lyrics associated with later progressive rock." I guess your edits are fine, Screebo. Slant Magazine does refers to this album as "Baroque pop" here and dark cabaret is more rock based (I definitely wouldn't call Antony and the Johnsons rock). Thomsonmg2000 (talk) 16:27, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Glad you agree, and you have a source too, great. As someone who listens occasionnally to A& the Js, I was shocked by dark cabaret, it's not really dark (more uplifting and inspirational, with a bit of melancholy thrown in here and there, IMHO), and just because Antony dresses in black and has a theatrical persona, it's not cabaret, it's in his nature. Cheers for your 2¢. CaptainScreebo Parley! 16:49, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Transgender and transsexual-related media[edit]

Is there something specific about this album that justifies Category:Transgender and transsexual-related media, or is this category applicable to all Antony and the Johnsons albums? ---Another Believer (Talk) 03:57, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
