Composer[edit]

Dixon or Rush? Paranoidhuman (talk) 20:27, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • The actual songwriter is in question. Most often, Willie Dixon is listed as the composer (or cowriter with Rush). In his autobiography, Dixon claims that he wrote the song about Rush's relationship. Rush is also sometimes listed as the composer (or cowriter with Dixon). Rush has claimed that he in fact wrote the song. The BMI (licensing organization) website lists Dixon as the composer/songwriter. In the blues world, it was not unusual for a more savvy operator to take credit for someone else's work. "I Can't Quit You Baby" was Rush's first single. See my user page.
