Chinese characters[edit]

The Chinese characters are wo cai (type of vegetable) I think. Don't know how to type Chinese on Wikipedia though, so I'll leave that for someone else to modify. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.230.6.199 (talkcontribs) 02:53, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Seeking source for use of song on Jeopardy! episode[edit]

This statement was removed from the article for being unsourced:

On May 15, 2002, the song was played over a montage of more unsuccessful contestants on the show during a special celebrating the 4000th episode of Jeopardy! as hosted by Alex Trebek.

I'm quite certain this is verifiable, but I will try and look for a source if that's what is desired on the page. --Scani 00:50, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's what needed on every page. The date should have been properly formatted too, by the way. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 09:16, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why the call for deletion?[edit]

This makes no sense to me, There are plenty of popular songs that have their own pages. I vote VERY STRONG! no delete. User:Akcarver 01:09, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

I also agree. Why should it be deleted? WHY?!? Holiday56 23:28, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would advise both of you to make your opinions known at this article's AfD page, not here. The AfD nomination expires on May 19th. --Scani 23:41, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

The plumber from Brooklyn sounds like a reference to Super Mario Bros. Is this worth mentioning? I have no experience editing wikis so I'll make no changes. 83.253.201.119 00:15, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting observation! Personally, I'm inclined to disagree, considering the single was released before Super Mario Bros.' release in the States (1984 vs. 1985). Then again, I may not be taking into account the popularity of arcade titles in the series prior to then. Regardless, Wikipedia has a policy that does not allow original research on articles, so your suggestion can't appear in an article unless there's an independent and reliable source that states the Brooklyn plumber was an SMB reference. Thanks for your interest in Wikipedia, and don't be afraid to edit other pages if you see fit! --Scani 02:38, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I can say categorically at the time the video came out, I, small child that I was, did make a connection between the plumber featured in this video and the characters from 1983's Mario Bros. You just don't see that many plumbers on television-- particularly not many capable of extraordinary feats.
That said, in the light of day, it's probably just a coincidence. In any case, nothing speculating about a connection could be included in an article until a reliable source in found. --Alecmconroy (talk) 01:51, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think the point was that the plumber had a Ph.D. and that Al was hopelessly out of his element. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 06:19, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I Lost on Jeopardy on Jeopardy[edit]

Just now i saw an episode of Jeopardy in which Weird Al appeared narrating a video clue. The Category was "80s Rock", the answer was something along the lines of "This 1984 music video of mine reunited Art Fleming and Don Pardo." though i don't know if that's the exactly how it was worded, and of course the question was "What is I Lost on Jeopardy."The Great Morgil 17:45, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actors[edit]

Who are the actors playing Leroy Finkelstein and Millard Snofgren? ProSieben (talk) 14:26, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is your Google working? Maybe you could find out! Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 15:13, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've already tried it, but I have another try. ProSieben (talk) 18:24, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If the video is still available somewhere, it might have some credits. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 20:10, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yankovic's Daily Double[edit]

According to Jeopardy! rules, a player attempting a Daily Double must be the one who most recently "correctly answered a question", unless it is early in the Jeopardy! round; or, in Double Jeopardy!, had to have the lowest score entering the second round, which I have called "the unfair advantage of being third". Only six categories are shown in the parody, and Yankovic already is trailing badly. There must have been some license in allowing him to participate in a Daily Double, much as the Odd Couple appearing as teammates on Password. 108.28.10.45 (talk) 19:43, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

...or perhaps the song is a parody and meant to be a satire of the game, not being subject to the actual rules of the television show. Sottolacqua (talk) 19:48, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yankovic's Actual Degree[edit]

Yankovic mentioned that he was playing against an architect. Shouldn't this be included maybe in the trivia section of the song? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Usaf2222 (talkcontribs) 23:23, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
