Orphaned references in Idaho Vandals football[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Idaho Vandals football's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 07:27, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Split proposed[edit]

The "History" section of this article is suffering from severe growing pains. There are also significant defects including WP:OVERLINK and WP:RECENTISM. The CFB project generally addresses some of these issues via creation of a History of Idaho Vandals football article per Category:History of college football by team norms.

Much of the existing History section content can be ported with attribution, leaving a significantly cleaner and reader-friendly version intact. That is more preferable than the alternative of simply pruning the existing content back to a reasonable size without it being preserved anywhere. Thoughts? @UW Dawgs:I agree that a split is in order; I have done it. Well, partially. The new article, History of Idaho Vandals football, still needs a lot of cleanup, and I haven't figured out a good summary for that article *or* for the section I've left behind. And both still suffer from being overlinked. Honestly, most of that section-now-article is junk, but I'm not going to just delete it all. I'll keep working when I've had some sleep. @Tikwriter: Well done including the "main" link atop the History section. Note, there are only a handful of FBS team articles with a small/stubbed History section. Please consider restoring a condensed version of the prior article/section content to provide some context, as seen in most FBS/Power 5 type team articles. @UW Dawgs: A better summary would certainly be a good idea, but writing one is beyond me. My eyes glaze over when I try to think about trying to compress all that detail into one or two paragraphs that actually tell a story. Unless you want to take a crack at it, it'll have to wait for someone else to contribute. Tikwriter (talk) 19:24, 19 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Idaho Vandals football[edit]

Eric Yarber, WR coach of the LA Rams, should be added to the list of former Idaho Vandals who are coaching in the NFL. 200.24.195.114 (talk) 04:23, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
