Entity Resolution and Record Linkage are essentially the same, but I don't agree with merging either with Identity Resolution. Identity Resolution is a particular type of Entity Resolution, but not the same as Entity Resolution. Record Deduplication can mean a lot of different things and should point to Entity Resolution. Proposed merger with Record linkage[edit]

Are the same Identity resolution/Entity resolution/Deduplication/Record linkage? If not, what's the difference? --SPiNoZA (talk) 01:40, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

To Bpplugger: If you don't mind me asking, why was the reference to the Intelligent Search Technology removed from this page? ~Chick With (talk) 18:02, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think the explicit reference to "Muammar al-Gaddafi" is not appropriate, as it would be offending to people in Libya for instance. I would suggest to use a more generic example. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.212.29.83 (talk) 09:26, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

These two articles should definitely be merged. The merged article should include a section discussing the various names for this concept (identity resolution, entity resolution, record linkage, deduplication, merge/purge problem) and the different shades of meaning for each.
