Holly Gibney series?[edit]

I am puzzled as to how this novella has been designated part of the "Holly Gibney series". Gibney is a character in five of King's works, but three of those are the Bill Hodges trilogy. Who decided that the novel The Outsider and the novella If It Bleeds are part of a "series"? Has King used this description? Has it been identified as the Holly Gibney series by numerous critics? Or is this just one Wikipedia editor's decision? Sundayclose (talk) 02:12, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I think generally if a character appears frequently in a writer's work, and this character has continual development, and aspects of the character's personal life are carried over from one book to another, this can be constituted as a series. If Gibney had appeared in 5 of King's last 8 books, I'd say she is most certainly a recurring character, and if her life situations and character are consistent and/or develop from book to book, that's what a series is. No reason why a character can't begin as a supporting character in one series, become a major character in another, then have the two series be conjoined as one.Robbmonster (talk) 06:58, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
But my concern is: who decides that certain novels or novellas constitute a series? All of Wikipedia requires reliable sources, not just one (or a few) editor's opinions, in this case opinions about whether there is a series or how to label that series. I'm sure I could come up with several names for series related to King's works, but that doesn't mean they belong in a Wikipedia article. We need either King's use of the term, or widespread use in reliable sources, not just a few opinions of Wikipedia editors. Sundayclose (talk) 14:35, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You’re correct that a reliable source is required to WP:VERIFY this. Otherwise, it is still WP:SYNTH/WP:OR, even if it’s based on sound logic, and you open up to creating fan-made terms all over. Tag it with a [citation needed] template, give it a week, and if no source is provided using the term, remove it. If publications use it, it’s fair to keep the term. -2pou (talk) 15:45, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Life of Chuck[edit]

The person(s) who wrote "Life of Chuck" section did a fine job. That section of the book really confused me. But now I understand. BuzzWeiser196 (talk) 11:20, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
