Facebook Link[edit]

I nominate re-addition of the Illibuck Facebook profile: http://www.facebook.com/p/Illy_Illibuck/506678202 It is run by the respective committees of the current Illibuck holder, there for does not break the external link rules since it is an official page of the article subject. From the WP policy:

6. Links to sites that require payment or registration to view the relevant content.

10. Links to social networking sites (such as MySpace), discussion forums or USENET.

These would seem to rule it out. Rkevins 07:04, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Ohio State buckeyes logo.png[edit]

Image:Ohio State buckeyes logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Divisional realignment for 2014, aka: No official word on Illinois joining the Legends Division[edit]

I removed the reference citing that Illinois would be moving to the Legends Division so Maryland and Rutgers could join the Leaders, mainly because the Big Ten commissioner said that a new split hasn't been decided upon yet[1] and I think we should wait on an announcement from the league office. Frank12 (talk) 16:59, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This appears to be the latest reference stating that the divisions haven't been set yet for the 2014 season to accommodate Maryland and Rutgers' membership. It appears there may be a geographic East-West split, but it's still not official yet. Frank12 (talk) 17:30, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Illibuck[edit]

Nobody calls it the "Illinois-Ohio State Rivalry". All sources I've found call it "The battle for Illibuck", "The Illibuck game" or some such variant, but always with "Illibuck" front and center.

The wooden turtle trophy is the only reason this game means anything, so the name should be in the title article.

Illibuck TrophyIllinois–Ohio State football rivalry – I've declined the speedy on the name change since there is active debate over the name's change. I'm posting this as this seems to be the basic debate over the name. I want to state that I am neutral in the manner and while I've left it under Illibuck Trophy for the time being, this should not be seen as an endorsement for the article's name. The basic argument for leaving it under Illibuck Trophy is that this is the main reason for the rivalry and it is a common name, whereas the argument for the move back to Illinois–Ohio State football rivalry is that this is also a common name and that similar articles have been moved to reflect upon the specific rivalry. • OPPOSE - Illibuck is what this game is famous for - nobody refers to it as the "Illinois-Ohio State Rivalry". Vjmlhds (talk) 05:16, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose this is college American football and two qualifiers have been left out. Gregkaye 09:52, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support -The proposed move falls in line with the trend in rivalry articles; in fact, this is the first article I've come across in a while that has not switched to the proposed format yet. It is more natural and flows better, aiding in readability and identifiability for the casual and unfamiliar reader. The proposed move also makes sense because the article is not about the trophy (if it were, it would be restricted to material details, and simple use). Since, however the article expounds on the rivalry outside of Illibuck (and it would not take much editing to re-shift the tone of the article from the trophy to the rivalry), the article is, in nature, more about the relationship of the football rivalry. Illibuck TrophyIllinois–Ohio State football rivalry – After the person who unnecessarily moved the article to its current title tried to do the same to the Michigan–Michigan State football rivalry page, I think its time to put this article back to its proper title. --Relisted. George Ho (talk) 20:20, 2 May 2015 (UTC) AL2896 (talk) 04:59, 25 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

AL2896 The general idea of the move certainly makes sense to me as per Category:College football rivalries in the United States. In the cat there are a variety of formats inclusing "Foo–Bar State football rivalry" and "Foo State–Bar State football rivalry". I personally prefer a format as in Ohio State–Penn State football rivalry on an interpreted applicability of NPOV. What would you think of: Illinois State–Ohio State football rivalry? GregKaye 09:05, 25 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This particular article is about Illinois, not Illinois State! Two completely different schools at two completely different locations! Ejgreen77 (talk) 15:33, 25 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
