OpenCandy / adware / malware / accusation of fraud[edit]

ImgBurn is being classified as harmful by many security software solutions (including Google Chrome). How can one best depict that problem in the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:908:D510:6D20:F524:3244:4BB4:355C (talk) 08:18, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I just downloaded the imgburn setup from 3 hosts:

  • From imgburn.com: neither virustotal.com nor Microsoft Defender detected OpenCandy
  • From MajorGeeks.com via the "DOWNLOAD NOW" button: downloaded a file named MG002.exe; virustotal had 26 hits for trojans and adware
  • From the 3rd link down on majorgeeks.com, which says "Download at MajorGeeks": got the exact same filename and file as from imgburn.com

So the assertion appears to be backwards: the version on imgburn.com has less malware than the default version on majorgeeks. Philgoetz (talk) 16:24, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Final / Demise?[edit]

Is there a reference to version 2.5.8.0 being the "Final" version? While I agree that it's very old as far as software goes (2013), and that, given the popularity/ubiquity of streaming services, it very likely will not be updated again, I think it would be good to clarify how (and, if possible, why) ImgBurn is no longer being updated. (It's worth noting that the author, "Lightning UK!" continues to be active on the ImgBurn forums even in 2020.) 2601:404:C681:1D20:CD90:47BE:A9F7:E1A7 (talk) 03:47, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
