Self-Promotion?[edit]

In the past, this article contained a suspiciously-high amount of self-promotional-style writing, and though I edited much of it out, recently much of it has returned by way of contributions from an unknown IP-address-user.

A great deal of this reads like marketing for Imran Chaudhri, listing his skills and accomplishments. The word “patent” comes up a fair bit.

This article makes an unproven claim that he was regarded as a “leader” of a team at Apple (from a recent edit) and an “inventor” of various features (especially those mentioned as patents) that are commonly considered as team efforts.

Chaudhri, like many designers at Apple, undoubtedly contributed to many technologies found in the devices Apple manufactures. I fear that because employees who currently work at Apple are not permitted to speak about their own contributions at the company publicly while they are employed, Chaudhri’s list of accomplishments here could be exaggerated in significance as an individual contributor.

Ultimately, I worry that this article services and benefits Chaudhri (and his new business Humane) more than it does the people coming here to learn about this person.

I refuse to believe that an unbiased individual wrote “enhance the human-device relationship” in earnest.

Once again, I have found this page to contain far too much superfluous and grandiose language with an accompanying list of accomplishments, patents, and associations. Chaudhri is undoubtedly an accomplished designer, but as I mentioned a year ago on this same Talk page, this seems to have been written in order to make him appear significant, especially as he raises funds for his latest venture. I suspect that changes made to beef up his presence give people a false impression of who this person is. Even Jony Ive has only a single mention of the word “patent” on his page. I don’t think it’s relevant just how many patents Imran Chaudhri has to the average person who may come across this page. Also, I removed or simplified many claims that were not verified in the actual sources. It seems someone who knows Chaudhri has included colorful details like “leader” where that information was not found in any reputable source. Lastly, Humane (Chaudhri’s company) has not announced any product, and making any statement about what it intends to do (again, like I said a year ago) like “enhance the human-device relationship” is either coming from Chaudhri’s own keyboard, a friend, or someone he is employing. It can only be described as a marketing phrase, and has no business on this page, especially before any actual product announcement. Louie Mantia (talk) 22:26, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
