Other examples of in-band signalling:

* Wiki
* The telnet protocol   (you can't send "Ctrl-[" to the other side)

Many of these are poorly escaped, for example, you can't wikifiy aribtrary english text without checking to make sure it doesn't contain any special characters. Likewise, with telnet, the user cannot send arbitrary data, whereas with ssh, the user can.

The danger with in-band signalling is when the escape-codes are not sufficiently strongly enforced.

Web forms suffer from in-band signaling only when they allow markup or don't properly escape what is typed in. --Traal 01:01, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Radio communications,
In-band signaling is also crucial part. However, it's not yet explained in this article. I know that radio communications device from Motorola, Tait Communications; In-band signaling is equipped.
