Definition

Traditionally, income has been synonymous with revenue or receipts for a person or corporation. In recent decades, the trend has been to apply separate definitions for persons and corporations, with the definition for the latter applying the term only to profit, or "net income" EBITDA, so that businesses would pay a lower tax than individuals.
