'Non-family households (of any race)'[edit]

Can I ask why '(of any race)' is here - is it relevant to the economic discussion? --Neo 20:32, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I do not know exactely which data set you are referring to but of any race usually means the data is not race specific. Sometimes the phrase "of any race" is made a suffix to the term Hispanic, indicating that Hispanics may be of any race (White hispanics, black hispanics, etc...). So, depending which data set you're talking about it will mean either one of those. Race is very relevant when disucssing income distribution as income varies greatly with the race of a householder. Race is one of the factors by which the US Departement of Commerce presents its statistics as the economic position of households among the races varies greatly. Race should not be relevant here-but unfortunately that's just a dream for now-sigh (If race was irrelevant on this article-it would mean that the income distribution was equal among the races). I'm thinking of the second table in the article whereby one entry is listed as 'Non-family households (of any race)' and the other along the lines of 'Family households' and 'Single-male family' are not. Presumably these 'Family Households' must also be of any race as the second table is not divided by race. It reads to me like a mistake, but I know nothing of how the statistics were collected, therefore wasn't confident in removing the clause. --Neo 08:15, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for clarifying. There was an error. All data in regards to the relationship between household types and household income in that table is non-race specific. Now that I actually know what you're talking about I was able to fix it. Thank you. Regards, SignaturebrendelNow under review! 14:57, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Red Links[edit]

Congratulations are in order for WikiProject US - this is the first random article that I have come across that is completely free from red links!

Well done, Wikiproject United States!

Merge proposed[edit]

This article does not cover income quintiles in general, only the income quintiles of the United States. It also contains some US-specific material not related to quintiles. There is very little, if anything, which is not already covered in Household income in the United States; I propose that the content of this article simply be merged there. -- Beland 18:36, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well the US Household income article is 59kb long. When I wrote these two articles, I though the Household income article was too long to feature the info here. Since then, however, I have written a lot of 80kb+ articles and my perspective on when an article is too long has changed. So go ahead merge this article into the household income article. Again, such an edit will also mark an improvement as I really chose a poor title for this article as it only pertains to one type of income: household income. So go ahead, make the move.
