Merger with AI

This article is heavily outdated. The merger whith Air India is colmplete, the airline is branded as "Air India", the only thing that remains is the code IC. The article should be changed to reflect this. Jer.dv (talk) 09:11, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Umm... No! There is nothing remotely resembling a merger involving AI & IC-CD. It's not just their codes. The companies remain separate. aircraft, crew, catering, uniforms, terminals, reservation platforms... everything is separate. The 'merger' remains a farwway fantasy at this point. And there's been plenty of press on this as well.
See the way the NW-DL merger is beeing addressed on Wikipedia: the two remain separate until their operating certificates are merged. Jasepl (talk) 09:21, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
What's the present status on this? The Indian Airlines website redirects to Air India, which shows Air India AI code flights and Air India IC code flights. While this integration is in progress, I suggest that the articles on WP be merged gradually as well. Regards, SBC-YPR (talk) 11:06, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
This is not the first airline merger - so we should just follow what is done for other mergers. Everything remains separate until they operate under one certificate. In AI and IC's case, they have not moved an inch closer in the recent past. "Air India IC Code Flights" are IC flights (IC uniformed crew, IC's check-in desks, IC's IT systems, IC's branded cutlery, etc). That's it. Same smelly old pig; new shade of lipstick! I get the feeling that the merger was legally complete on 31 March 2008. This is because both the airlines websites show the same person as CMD after 01.04.2008 (AI, IA), which would not be possible if they were two distinct companies. Further, the present management is the same for both airlines, as indicated by their respective websites (AI, IA). Regards, SBC-YPR (talk) 16:43, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
There has been no merger. And AI/IC/CD's entry into Star Alliance has been delayed partly as a result of there not being a merger (because the AI and IC groups do not agree on anything, from strategy to IT systems). And just because upper management is the same, does not mean two companies are one legal entity. Does anyone consider TELCO and TISCO to be the same company? Or Hindalco and Grasim to be one entity? On and fluff means it's a marketing/branding tool. No clue where you got your impression from, but AI and IC (as well as Express and Alliance) remain separate legal entities (with a common ultimate parent). They continue maintain separate operating certificates and licenses (it's still AI, IC, CD and IX - I don't see AI everywhere... do you?).
See the Air India talk pages... This has been discussed to death (several times), and the status quo maintained by consensus of several editors. Jasepl (talk) 17:00, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

The merger is not complete and as someone said its a far away fanatasy. The airline is just commercially a single unit NACIL under brand name of Air India, rest all departments like Engineering, operations, finance etc. are as it is. And also this merger is not a piece of cake as you think it is when the two companies were seperate,IA and AI, their direct competitor was each other. They didnt care about the private airlines emerging. And they were opposite in their views, for eg. INDIAN AIRLINES preferred french made Airbus whereas AIR INDIA preffered US made Boeing. So this whole merger thing is really far fetched and whats more the Airline is also in the brink of collapse if stern decisions arent taken. Menonarjun7

    • UPDATE** Please visit Air India's official website www.airindia.in to clear any confusions. There are 4 services : 1. Air India (IC), Air India (AI), Air India Regional (IC) and Air India Express (AX). AI Regional is part of Air India IC. Air India IC is NOT a domestic wing, it operates many international flights. The crew uniforms, boarding passes, BagTags, Counters etc. all say Air India. There is no such thing as 'Indian' or 'Indian Airlines'. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.177.66.89 (talk) 09:36, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

Name

I have updated the name per the data available on the official website. Also, check-in counters (at least at BIAL) now display Air India and not Indian. I haven't flown the airline recently, so I'm not sure of the status of cutlery, on-board services, etc. Regards, SBC-YPR (talk) 16:30, 17 June 2009 (UTC) The airline issues Air India boarding cards for IC flights, many of the airplanes now have Air India written on them. They announce the flights as "Air India" not "Indian" or "Indian Airlines" (At least at Mumbai, New Delhi and Chennai)

I just deleted a copyvio from here that constituted most of the incidents and accidents section. Should be rewritten with clean text.LeadSongDog come howl 13:49, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
Rather than just reintroducing the WP:COPYVIO, please take the time to rewrite the text.LeadSongDog come howl 13:12, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
