UK/US focus

The focus of the article is all over the place with some parts being more about British indie bands (which would be appropriate as before Britpop we called it Indie due to the Indie charts), but in the middle (around the 1990s section) the focus becomes very American with Britpop/the British indie scene getting almost a 'throwaway' mention. Obviously Wikipedia is an American site with lots of American users, but it seems strange when dealing with a term which was used more in Britain back in the day (though typeset more as indie), when in the USA, 'Alternative rock (Alt. Rock)' and 'College rock' seemed to be the preferred genre terminologies until the late 1990s/internet age. I'm not saying get rid of all the American stuff, just increase the 1990s section to include more about the British music scene (as it wasn't all about Britpop and Manchester) and maybe the New Zealand/Australian scene as well (though as there is an article called Australian indie rock, maybe there should be one called 'British Indie' and turn this one into American Indie Rock or North American Indie Rock (if you don't think the Canadian Music Scene is worth talking about). Note: Smiths wouldn't have American magazines in stock locally, so most of my knowledge of American Alternative music comes from MuchMusic: The New Music at night. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.154.172.75 (talk) 14:37, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
