Size[edit]

With 150,000 personnel, the police form a much smaller portion of the population than in most nations.
The total number of national and local police in 2006 was approximately 470,000.
The strength of the Indonesian National Police stood at approximately 285,000 in 2004.

Corrupt, Violent, Incompetent.[edit]

I can agree with Corrupt, Violent? eh... Incompetent? the last 5 years doesn't seem so, especially since Tito took office. Anyway, the citation is from an article more than 7 years ago... don't you think at this point context matters? That people that read it should at least know it came from an article more than 7 years ago? and personally i found the added context makes it "Clearer". Besides it only adds 9 more words... i doubt 9 words will make anyone confused. Hi. Feel free to add these sources. It is of course difficult to find critical Indonesian sources about Polri given the craven attitude of the media in Indonesian towards both the police and the military. There is a similar problem with unbiased sources about the 1965 military coup attempt, much of the New Order era and of course the Indonesian National Revolution - which is why those articles have to rely on non-Indonesian publications, some of which were of course published some time ago.
