Some additions[edit]

Servers Down[edit]

I think Windysoft shut down the Infinity Online servers a long time ago. There's no server found on their site. Also, Playinfinity.org has been overrun by spambots. Scout01 00:49, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not Advertising[edit]

See WP:ADVERT. "Articles considered advertisements include those that are solicitations for a business, product or service, or are public relations pieces designed to promote a company or individual." Even if it reads like an instruction manual, that's not advertising. Delete it, sure, but not by the speedy deletion criterion for advertising. Every word after the article's lede is an incoherent strategy guide; it seems you agree with me. What, precisely, about this article indicates it ought to stay? The article contains almost nothing but red meat for paying Infinity Online users. That is prima facie ad copy, since it's an attempt by whoever inserted it to get users to spend more money. "It was supposed to be released on October 12, 2006, but due to an IDC problem, was released internationally on October 17. ... For contractual and other reasons, Gametribe has implemented an IP block on users in the United States." It seems to reference both good and bad. Speedy deletion is for blatant advertising only. Yes, it contains fancruft, and yes, that's not encyclopedic. But it does not solicit, nor does it read like a press release. And this isn't the first article you've tagged today as advertising that's been declined. "But it does not solicit" I hate, hate, hate to ask, but did you RTFA?. The article doesn't read like a front-to-back effort, including your "BANNED IN THE USA" quote, to get users to spend more money?

Do me a favor. Please stop removing the tag, since if it's inappropriately placed, it'll get removed anyway. Let an admin decide. As far as "the first article [I]'ve tagged today as advertising that's been declined," eat me. It's a question of simple literacy; if an article is 99% ad copy with the other 1% worthwhile, some militant inclusionist will come along and wipe my tag, ignoring the fact that the tag says "fundamentally rewritten," not "completely rewritten."
