The ADL comment suddenly disappeared, and then reapeared[edit]

The IMEU Wikipedia article was pretty tiny when I expanded the ADL controversy part on 9-Mar-2008. User:Eleland was quick to remove my expansion, to keep in line with the Palestinian agenda. But after I nominated the article for deletion (the IMEU being just another insignificant outlet for Palestinian propaganda), suddenly user:Tiamut, another pro-Palestinian Wikipedia editor, largely expanded the article to look more "serious", lest it be deleted. And lo and behold, the ADL controversy part reappeared. Everything is kosher in propaganda. -- Gabi S. (talk) 18:39, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gabi S., what are you trying to imply exactly? I was unaware of Eleland's previous edits and my use of the ADL source seems appropriate to me. Please WP:AGF and do not accuse people of propaganda efforts when they are simply trying to improve articles inappropriately tagged for deletion. Gabi, I originally removed the text related to the ADL because it was an inaccurate summary of the source it cited, and it had a controversial and arguably well-poisoning sentence appended with no source at all. It wrote that "IMEU [...published] an anti-Israeli article that was later re-published on several anti-Zionist web sites" and that "Most of IMEU articles still have anti-Israel undertones." In fact, the ADL source given says that a co-founder of IMEU wrote the article, and did not say that IMEU had published it or given it their imprimatur. The claim of "anti-Israel undertones" was unsourced, and I don't think we should be throwing around such unencyclopedic terminology anyway. Such terms are almost meaningless; in this case I presume it means that IMEU reflects the general international consensus on the Israel-Palestine conflict, which Israel's defenders regard as "anti-Israel."

The information in its new form seemed to at least accurately reflect the source, but was irrelevant, or at best, only very tenuously linked to the subject of the article. To review: a pro-Israel group, writing about the reactions of those it deems "pro-Palestinian" to Jimmy Carter's book, happens to mention that a co-founder of IMEU and member of AADC wrote an article, and this article was subsequently reprinted (with her approval? doesn't say) by what the ADL describes as the "anti-Zionist radical left" newspaper. In my opinion this is trivial at best in an article on the IMEU. <eleland/talkedits> 01:27, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
