Not an appropriate redirect[edit]

Interfor is not associated with the name International Forest Products, but there is a large US company that goes by that name. https://www.ifpcorp.com/ I believe this redirect should be removed.

Employee note[edit]

Some of the information posted on this site is out of date. I work with Interfor and I would like to suggest the following changes.

Introduction[edit]

Suggested edits: International Forest Products Limited (TSX: IFP.A) (Interfor for short) is one of the largest producers of lumber products in the world. The company's sawmilling operations have a combined manufacturing capacity of 2.2 billion board feet of lumber with sales to North America, Asia-Pacific and Europe. Interfor is based in Vancouver, BC and provides employment to approximately 2000 people. The company is publicly traded on the TSX.[1] Source #1 is a dead link – this can be replaced by the company profile at http://interfor.com/company

Quick Facts[edit]

The current company had its start in 1964; total sales in 2012 ($CDN) $849.2 million – source http://interfor.com/sites/default/files/docs/reports/Interfor-Annual-Report-2012.pdf

History[edit]

As noted earlier, the company as currently structured began operations in 1964. A source for the “2013 Buy Rayonier Wood Products Division” is http://interfor.com/sites/default/files/docs/reports/Interfor-Completes-Acquisition-of-Rayonier-Wood-Products-Business.pdf. Add “2013 Buy Keadle Lumber Enterprises” with this source http://interfor.com/sites/default/files/docs/reports/Interfor-Completes-Acquisition-of-Keadle-Lumber.pdf . There are a number of broken links under history including Sauder Industries, Montclair Investment Corporation, Weldwood Operations, Flavelle Mill, Primex Mills, Crown Mills and Floragan Mills

Corporate Structure[edit]

The current site has mix of board members and executive officers; some out of date. The current board of directors (http://interfor.com/company/directors) is

Duncan K. Davies (President & CEO)
Peter M. Lynch
Gordon H. MacDougall
J. Eddie McMillan
Andrew K. Mittag
Lawrence Sauder (Chair)
L. Scott Thomson
Douglas W.G. Whitehead

If executive officers need to be included, they are listed on the company website http://interfor.com/company/officers.

Products[edit]

Interfor has added southern yellow pine to its species mix -- southern yellow pine.

Sawmills[edit]

Revise the final line to update it -- there are four sawmills in Georgia (Baxley, Swainsboro, Eatonton and Thomaston). A source from the company website could be added to keep the information up to date -- http://interfor.com/contact/operations-locations.

Environment[edit]

Under manufacturing, second sentence should read Interfor’s Canadian mills have been independently audited . . .

Awards and accomplishments[edit]

There are a few inaccuracies in this section. Here is suggested wording: Interfor and Nanwakolas Council were awarded an SFI Inc. Conservation Leadership Award (2009) for a partnership to ensure a suitable supply of monumental cedar trees to meet long-term cultural needs on BC’s Pacific Coast (Source: http://www.sfiprogram.org/resources-media/news/sfi-inc-presents-interfor-with-conservation-leadership-award/). Interfor was a co-recipient of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) – Gift to the Earth Award (2007) for collaborative work that led to landmark agreements to conserve temperate rainforests in BC’s Central and North Coast regions, also known as the Great Bear Rainforest (source: http://www.coastforestconservationinitiative.com/pdf/gbr_final_1may07_lr_no_bleed.pdf). In 2002, the BC Ministry of Environment recognized Interfor’s long-standing work with the Adams Lake Indian Band and other interested groups to restore Sinmax Creek habitat for endangered Coho salmon populations. In 2000, Interfor was one of 12 companies globally to receive the inaugural Millennium Business Award for Environmental Achievement, Interfor has maintained successful certification and surveillance audits by independent auditors (KPMG Performance Registrar Inc. and Smartwood) since 2001 (SFI certified) and select coastal operations certified to FSC BC Standard since 2009.

Financials[edit]

A link to Interfor’s investor site http://interfor.com/investors provides current information on the company’s finances and the latest stock quote. [edit]

I've added the advert tag because the Products, Environmental Record, and Financials sections appear to be primarily sourced from the companies website and because there is an Awards and Accomplishments section and yet no Controversy section. It is odd to me how little content and references this article contains given how much quality journalism is readily available. Future Proof Reader (talk) 08:16, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
