This deserves a better article, if we can find sources. I used Interleaf in the early 1980s. It was a very good product, with roughly the capabilities and speed of Microsoft Word 97, but in 1982.

The problem with Interleaf was the pricing model. It wasn't sold as software; you had to buy Sun workstations, a server, and a laser printer from Interleaf. Cost of entry was about $60,000. They had the right technology, but the only way to make money back then, when nobody had enough computer power to run the thing, was to sell entire "desktop publishing" systems. --John Nagle 19:02, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thoughts for the article[edit]

I used Interleaf in the early 1990s, on an Apollo workstation. It had nice features that I still miss from the programs I use today, such as Word.

For this article, it would be nice with a history of available platforms by year. Has Interleaf lost it? To who? In my workplace, it was replaced with Framemaker on Unix, and later by Word. Is this new Quicksilver product a modernized Interleaf, or is it something else? --HelgeStenstrom 10:53, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

IBM Interleaf Publisher[edit]

In the late 1980's I worked for IBM in the Publishing Systems group out of Boulder, Colorado. We worked with Interleaf to port the Interleaf TPS to an IBM PS/2 platform. It was called IBM Interleaf Publisher. I used to demonstrate this product at trade shows and visit customer sites for support. I have copies on old 3.5" diskettes and the manuals. (I don't have a diskette drive anymore.)

Perhaps if the PS/2 platform had been successful in the marketplace, IBM Interleaf Publisher would have successfully evolved. When IBM became closed platform the demise of its PC product line and related software was predictable. Naykid3 (talk) 16:43, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am a translator and had a great job for a large German company that was porting all its TXT-format programming instructions to a state-of-the-art formatted version. So we converted thousands of pages of text in this way. I really loved Interleaf POublisher since it was a million times better than anything Microsoft could offer. Therse were MS-DOS days, remember. At some point, we upgraded to Interleaf 5 for Windows which was not really an improvement (since it required Windows...). I still have all the disks of both versions (and a diskette drive) and will set up a VM sometime for fun.[reply]

Save-as-ascii-markup[edit]

I can verify that the Broadvision version of Interleaf (QuickSilver) does indeed retain the save-as-ascii-markup feature. I use it often. (Charlie O) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.32.192.33 (talk) 20:35, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Remove "Need Citations" template?[edit]

The "Needs Citations" notice was put up in 2006. In the major rev I did on August 1, 2009, I added a fair number of citations. Does someone think it's time to remove the notice? dweinberger (talk) 18:35, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removed "Conversion" section[edit]

It read like spam for the one vendor mentioned in it. It was a bizarrely long section, and contained details that seemed to be out of place in an article about a company. E.g., the fact that some military documents require conversion within the US sounds like it was included to drive users to the vendor mentioned. dweinberger 23:27, 6 November 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dweinberger (talkcontribs)

Reference to Dave Boucher incorrect[edit]

The link to Dave Boucher is incorrect--he's not a cyclist. He doesn't seem to be in Wikipedia at the moment. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jascott99 (talkcontribs) 22:25, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page[edit]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Resolved This issue has been resolved, and I have therefore removed the tag, if not already done. No further action is necessary.—cyberbot II NotifyOnline 00:11, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The aforesaid InsaneClownPosseBot retagged the same refs something like 3 days later, and the now 18-month-old problem has been completely neglected for nearly the last year. I'd prefer to describe exactly what ii've done about it, but a lot of my usual tools are uh, in the shop, and it will take me longer than i'd have preferred.
Matter of fact YAf'gBot has screwed with my work in progress, and IMO it would be silly to explain how my pending fix would work when the other "editors" are even stupider than me and presumably don't read the relevant talk pages.

Removed Kirk Reistroffer reference[edit]

I couldn't find a citation for Worldview being Kirk Reistroffer's idea, although I was at the company and believe it to be true. So I removed it. dweinberger 21:57, 13 November 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dweinberger (talkcontribs)
