Someone has inserted {fact} in several places in this page. It looks like a wiki-tag but it renders as text. I've never seen this before. Can we work out what they mean and correct it?

I'm compiling this article based on the Pakistan internet censorship article, please don't delete it as its in the process of being put together, thank you. please state changes made/reverts/etc. on discussion page first. Banning undernet[edit]

The reference given for the section of "Banning undernet" i some blog post. The blogger says "it is inaccessible", NEVER mentioning that it is officially blocked. Also, the blogger specifically mentions only the Airtel ISP.

Moreover, today (i.e. 4th January 2009) I can easily access undernet from my IRC client. With that in view, I am deleting the mentioned section. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Games like Poker are not (completely) regarded as gambling since they require considerable skill to play and win. Bans usually apply to games that are more luck than skill. Controversial segment in the article..[edit]

Vimeo and The Pirate Bay websites are not blocked all over the india.. The inline citations show that only Reliance Communiations Ltd., blocked these websites, though they put a banner "This site is blocked as per the instructions from Department of Telecommunciation". How easy is it to use proxy servers to bypass blocking of any website?[edit]

The following change was made to the lead of the article earlier today:

After: However, any websites blocked either by the government or Internet service providers can easily be accessed through proxy servers (see Internet censorship circumvention).

buydomains.com is opening in india, but in this article they wrote it as blocked.[edit]

Done. I made a change along the lines suggested. There were sources that verified that the sites were blocked at one time. Someone with more direct knowledge of the situation should review the revised section. Not done. Without a reliable published source to cite, no addition to the article was made. As stated above, Bayimg.com is mentioned in a caption to a screenshot that is included in the article. The caption reads: "Bayimg.com blocked by orders of Department of Telecom on BSNL broadband network in India as of 13 September 2012". this shows how someone deleted my additions by calling them "trivial". Isn't it ironic that we are writing about censorship in India and newsworthy information that needs to be said is being censored and suppressed by calling it "trivial"? isn't the whole point of this page to list out instances of internet censorship in India because that is exactly what my addition was doing? i had proper citations for all instances and instead of improving upon or even correcting it somehow if it was incorrectly written, the editor goes about deleting the entire thing. Accessibility of websites from outside India is limited[edit]

I am aregular visitor of Indian websites because of my interest in Indian politics. For quite some years I have noticed that it becomes increasingly difficult to access these websites from outside India. Often you get an error message such as "network connection error" or "connection timeout", "access forbidden", or similar. This occurs with quite normal websites such as the Census of India websites, the Indian Election Commission website, the various state websites, etc. I really have the impression that India is getting more reclusive and restrictive, which is a pity. --Furfur^{⁂ Diskussion} 10:06, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
