  • August 20, 1962: SR-41 became part of SR-1; SR-1 north of Brigham City became SR-85

  • 1969: state legislature moved SR-1 to I-15 south of exit 8; old route became SR-18, SR-34 through St. George, but the old alignment south of SR-18 remained until 1974
  • July 19, 1974: old route became local road (Arizona to SR-18)
  • March 23, 1973: old route became local road (exits 8 to 10)
  • July 10, 1964: old route became extended SR-212 and local road (exits 10 to north of 16)

New 80-mph speed limits[edit]

As per the speed limit article, a portion of this route was raised to 80 mph in January of 2009. Does this deserve mention in the article? I'm going to add it myself, because this article doesn't get a lot of attention. Any objections, please let me know -- I'm a fairly new editor and I don't want to do damage. It would be nice to have an official source for the speed limits. However, to the best of my knowledge UDOT doesn't publish this information. IMO this article needs a thorough re-write anyways, so I guess any change would be an improvement. Dave (talk) 02:33, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Updates[edit]

Actually my first point isn't an update, but a question of why there is no mention of the name Veterans Memorial Highway.

The 80 MPH speed limit is a trivial detail. However the omission of being designated "Veterans Memorial Highway" is indeed a major omission. However, this article is essentially missing a history section, it's a work in progress. Feel free to hit the edit button and get started. =-) Dave (talk) 04:52, 26 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
