Alternating wavy and triangular rays is an Old World artistic convention, appearing in medieval European art and tracing back to the emblem of the Mesopotamian sun-god Shamash; I would be surprised if it also appeared in pre-Columbian Inca art... AnonMoos (talk) 12:29, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
