@AnimeEditor: I saw this earlier in the 'WikiProject Anime talk — Intrigue in the Bakumatsu'. By the time I got around to looking into it, the discussion had been archived, so I thought I'd respond here rather than creating a new discussion there. I was able to dig up nihongo and seiyuu/page links for the characters you listed — if there isn't an en.wiki seiyuu page, the kanji will be linked to the ja.wiki seiyuu page. The stuff comes from a variety of sources including the ja.wiki page. I wasn't able to find any nihongo for 'Okoma'. I dunno anything about the show let alone which characters are meaningful so I'll leave it in your hands from here.

- Glad to help. There aren't too many pages I want to work on right now so this was just a way to do something. FYI, while I think I was consistent with the character names (family then given), I was not with the seiyuu names, so you'll have to reverse some to correct that. ogenstein (talk) 23:45, 11 June 2019 (UTC)
- @ogenstein: Okay the characters section is updated. Probably not the best at the descriptions, but it's the best I can do in categorizing. - @AnimeEditor: Here is the Otori Keisuke/seiyuu nihongo. I'm not sure that I'd characterize him as a member of the fleet. At some point he apparently becomes the Minister of the Army. I also added the correct nihongo for Okoma. Probably should avoid best guesses as that constitutes original research and also might be incorrect. I included the hiragana for each of the names but that's just for reference. Took them from episode credits.

- Regarding the descriptions, for the minor characters, they might be more than necessary. For example, Okoma, who as far as I can tell had only a handful of lines in the entire show, is minor enough that many sites don't even list her. You basically described every single appearance she makes. If you did that with a major character, you'd probably have to split the page. For really minor characters that don't really impact the plot, it's fine to not have any text at all, and for minor characters, not even a full sentence is needed. Just my thoughts on the matter.

- @ogenstein: The main goal was to name major and minor characters that made a good enough impact in the plot to be listed. Basically, after watching the series, it looked like it was "halfway done". Besides, there are numerous characters in the series I have not even mentioned in the summaries that have appeared, and they were just cameos (like a few seconds). Others appeared for one episode (i.e., Sonosuke Goto in episode 16). I thought Okoma was worthy enough to be mentioned on the list, despite when she appeared, because of her role in the series. With that being said.... Keisuke is shown as a member of Enomoto's fleet (as the Minister of the Army) in episode 21, as part of the Republic of Ezo, which was confirmed in episode 20. - @AnimeEditor: I'm not at all opposed to adding them but I was wondering about Okoma getting a description half as long as Yojirou's (and fifth largest overall). Was she that important a character? By the way, her character page on the official site calls her a '旅芸者' (tabi geisha) or 'travelling' geisha.
- As for Ōtori, the Minister of the Army would normally be senior to an admiral. The minister would be a member of the government, not of the fleet. Not really sure what 'member of the fleet' means in this context. As an aside, I don't know how historical the show is but I see that several characters have links to historical persons of the same name. There is a page for Ōtori Keisuke so it might be worth adding the link if there is a strong connection between the two. Regards, ogenstein (talk) 18:35, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
- @ogenstein: For Okoma, I will make that correction that she was a traveling geisha, not just a geisha. Also, in the context of the plot, she was one connected to Lord Shoten who influenced Yojiro and Kakunojo to go to the underground shrine behind the waterfall, as seen in episode 15. This started the Kakunojo's destiny as being the bearer of the second Moon Tear Sword, though this sword has the opposite and unfortunate effect of preventing the Head of the Conqueror from being sealed. So again, it was all do to Okoma who delivered a letter to Yojiro in the first place.
- For Keisuke, I will add the link to that page due to the historical significance. However, due to how the series is, Keisuke became a member of the Republic of Ezo, again confirmed in episode 20, which is affiliated with Enomoto's fleet. Even on that page (Ōtori Keisuke).... it confirms that he met with Enomoto. Fleet members in this context would be referred to anyone affiliated with Enomoto, his ships, and the Republic of Ezo later established, but only a handful were deemed worthy enough to be mentioned since they made a good enough impact; Keisuke just barely made it. And the fact that there is a Wikipedia page for him makes it that much more significant in connection to the series.

- @ogenstein: To the best of my ability, I shortened Okoma's description to two sentences, cutting off her first appearance replacing Kakunojo's sandal and when she and her geisha companions play on their shamisens.
