Inuit-Kultur is a featured article on the German wikipedia. As there is no Inuit culture page on this wiki, this page seems to be the closest equivalent. I have basic German comprehension and will take a look at it, but if anyone else wants to attempt a partial translation, feel free. Lithoderm (talk) 15:27, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Is there any good reason why there isn't an Inuit culture page? To include material and non-material culture, historic and current, etc. A full overview, with pointers to other articles. BrainyBabe (talk) 08:27, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

If you are willing to do the translation that would be great. I too think that it should have it's own stand alone article. This article should discuss the artwork and could be linked to from Inuit culture. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 15:23, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Yes, that's ok. If you can get the columns to be even, with some space between them, that would be great. I think it would be ok to fix obvious mistakes and grammar. but dont try to clarify it; I can't be certain of my translation and any reorganization might just confuse what the original article was saying. Tools

The article states that powertools are rarely used, but nearly every sculptor here in Gjoa Haven, if not all, are using a Dremel. I'll try and ask Uriash Puqiqnak about this if I get to see him again. 216.126.249.234 (talk) 06:56, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

I seem to recall that there was a push on by the government of the NWT/Nunavut (pre-division) to build facilities that were designed for using power tools in. And that seems to be indicated here and in the middle of the piece he says that power tools have been in use for 20 years, since 1972. This looks as if it was the original source for the line about power tools. This discusses the costs associated with power tools and this tells you that there is a visible difference between the use of hand and power tools. Johnny Aculiak says he doesn't use them but Toonoo Sharky does. Note the 20 year age difference between the two. Both this and this indicate that it is the costs that limit the use of power tools. There are few carvers here but they do use power tools, mainly outside. I suspect that the use of power tools has grown over time. I know that 15 years ago there was little use of power tools in Ulukhaktok but it may have grown since then. I notice too that the Co-ops and Northern both carry Dremel which was not the case a few years back. CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 10:10, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
