@AliAkar: I have been copy-editing this article and have some queries and an observation. I am assuming you wrote this article. *What does "Basij was humanity crop in Iran-Iraq war" mean? I assume "crop" is a mistake for "corps", but the sentence is still unclear.

Near the beginning it says, "Saddam Hussein feared that Iran's new revolutionary leadership would threaten Iraq's delicate Sunni and Shia balance and would exploit Iraq's geostrategic vulnerabilities and therefore he pretext that Iraq's minimal access to the Persian Gulf, for example." What does "therefore he pretext that Iraq's minimal access to the Persian Gulf, for example" mean? Please would you check my copy-editing of this sentence to make sure I have not misunderstood anything..
The first section on the Iran-Iraq war is not neutral; it is written very much from an Iranian point of view. I think the editorial stance taken here needs to be more balanced.

Revising the list[edit]

2.180.105.90 (talk · contribs), To whom it may concern: First of all, the contributor seems to have mistaken "war heroes" or "martyrs" with commanding officers during the war. Most importantly, there is not criteria for including people in the list, which makes it misleading and against Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lists.

For example, Ahmad Keshvari, Ali Akbar Shiroodi and Abbas Doran were not commanders but are included in the list. Mohammad Jahanara was a tactical-level commander for only a brief period of time within the eight-years war. Actually, there were thousands of commanders like Jahanara during the war and he happens to be a famous one. There are many others in the list without a proper reason. I made a clear criteria to include all those who held major military offices during the war, with a reliable source. Pahlevun (talk) 11:34, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Pahlevun: I see! But given Wikipedia notability criteria for military personnel, (particularly one who "Played an important role in a significant military event such as a major battle or campaign"), we may consider rearranging the topic and scope of the page to include those military figures who are renowned for their special contributions to the war despite lack of high-level offices. After all, Iran's war with Iraq was notable for the overwhelming contributions of "war heroes" many of whom emerged from among civilian volunteers or low-rank but patriotic personnel. Or alternately, we my consider creating a separate page for these famous war heroes. --2.180.105.90 (talk) 15:49, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Notability criterias are for creating articles, not for including them in the list, which needs clear/coherent criterias. Maybe creating a List of Iranian military personnel of the Iran–Iraq War (or any other name) for them is proper. Pahlevun (talk) 16:39, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
